Pinnacle Cup II Day 1 & 2 Playoffs – surprises from all sides

Names expected to be further down the competition have left instead.

After the gruelling play-in and swiss rounds, we are now in the final stretch of the Pinnacle Cup II competition, as 12 teams will be competing to see who will be left in the Grand Final round, and subsequently crowned as the winner of the Pinnacle Cup II.

The teams that are in the playoff are:

In the qualifying round, eight teams from the Swiss Round battled it out for a chance to go to the quarterfinals. The first pair was between mouz NXT and Copenhagen Flames, and the match was intense, as mouz NXT took the lead in the first round, but Copenhagen Flames then took over the narrative and just led the match until they won the two subsequent maps. Copenhagen Flames won 2-1.

The match between ENCE and HAVU Gaming meanwhile promised to be an exciting match, and they delivered. The match ping-ponged between the two teams as they each won one map before the third map, but HAVU proved to be the better team as they won the last map 16 – 13. HAVU Gaming won 2-1

SKADE overall controlled their match, even though Entropiq took one map away from their grasp, but they eventually gained back their control and won the final map, and eventually became the winner. SKADE won 2-1.

Team Fiend took charge of the match from the get-go – they registered more kills per round vs Young Ninjas. The young lads from the NIP academy were good, but not good enough. In the end, Team Fiend won 2-0.

Quarter Finals

The four teams that were seeded directly to the quarter finals are:

Sinners went against Copenhagen Flames, who won their qualifying round against mouz NXT. Sinners is also the top ranked team in the competition so far, placing first in the Swiss Round table – and it shows. Right out of the gate, they controlled their match with ease. Copenhagen Flames gave their best but Sinners were too good. Sinners Esports won 2-0, and proceeded to the semi finals.

forZe met up with SKADE to see who will go on to the semi finals. SKADE gave a very heartful match in the first map, where they pushed the game to extra time. But unfortunately they seemed to lose their motivation in the second round and forZe won the map easily. forZe won 2-0, and will be heading to the semi finals.

Endpoint met up with HAVU in their quarterfinal round match, and both teams gave a good fight for the match. Two maps were played, Overpass and Dust II, and both maps went into overtime. In the end however Endpoint preserved and grabbed the victory lap as they took ownership of the two maps played. Endpoint won 2-0.

The last pair match was Team Spirit vs Team Fiend. The two teams (heh) made some excellent moves to win their round, and gave some nice highlights that we have captured on our Nightly Best series on social media. But in the end Team Spirit was the better team and won the two maps played without too much trouble. Team Spirit on 2-0.

Now that quarter finals are over, we will be looking forward to the semifinals which will be:

SINNERS Esports vs Endpoint

forZe vs Team Spirit
