Renegades, Flipsid3, Gambit, Virtus.Pro, G2, Mousesports, FaZe, and CLG will compete in a series of elimination BO3s for two spots in the ELEAGUE playoffs.
ELEAGUE continues this week with the last chance qualifier at Turner Studios in Atlanta, GA after a week-long hiatus for ESL One Cologne 2016. Today, 7/13, the mini-tournament will kick off with Renegades against Flipsid3 and then with Gambit against Virtus.Pro, to determine the first semifinal.
Tomorrow 7/14, the day will begin with G2 against Mousesports followed by FaZe against CLG to determine the second pair of semi-finalists. On Friday 7/15, both semifinals will be played out and two winning teams will advance to the playoffs.
Amidst this tight competition, a cloud of controversy has surrounded ELEAGUE and its organizers with the disqualification of both SK Gaming (previously Luminosity) and ex-SK Gaming (now Team X) from the tournament, with the former having clinched a spot in the playoffs and the latter have secured a spot in the last chance qualifier.
As a result, Cloud9 was granted a spot in the playoffs due to their title as runners up of Group A (with the winners being Luminosity at the time) and Gambit was granted a spot in the last chance qualifier to replace Team X.
The winners of the last chance qualifier will meet the following teams in the playoffs to compete for the grand prize of $390,000 and the runner up prize of $140,000.
