The Conjuring is getting its first standalone video game just in time for Halloween.
Halloween is almost here, and Netflix has a new treat for horror fans and gamers. In an announcement on Tuesday (6 October), Netflix revealed The Conjuring: Unspoken, the first standalone video game based on The Conjuring franchise.
Developed by Supermassive Games, the British studio behind Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology, and The Quarry, the interactive narrative horror game launches exclusively on Netflix on 13 October.
The title had quietly surfaced in Netflix's October line-up in September, when only its name and basic premise were known. The latest announcement now gives a much clearer look at how The Conjuring: Unspoken plays, who players will be controlling, and what is waiting inside the inn.
The Conjuring: Unspoken
Release date: 13 October 2026
Platform: Streamed directly through Netflix on supported TV apps or web browsers, with an iOS or Android phone used as the controller.
Developer: Supermassive
What is The Conjuring: Unspoken?
The Conjuring: Unspoken follows demonologist Francesca Noakes as she investigates a series of disturbing events at the centuries-old Red Lion Inn in England.
The Cooper family arrives at the inn while grieving the death of their mother, but strange things soon begin happening around them. Dolls disappear, one of the daughters starts hearing her late mother's voice at night, and a ballerina music box begins playing by itself. A séance eventually goes wrong, pushing the haunting even further. As the investigation progresses, Francesca discovers that the family has become caught in the grip of Vinea, a demon that feeds on grief, and Florrie, a ghost from English folklore.
Players will search the inn for clues, investigate paranormal activity, and choose how Francesca responds during conversations. Netflix describes The Conjuring: Unspoken as an "interactive paranormal investigation", with those dialogue choices helping shape how the story unfolds.
The Conjuring: Unspoken is the first standalone video game based on The Conjuring, which began with James Wan's 2013 supernatural horror film, and has since expanded into four mainline films alongside spin-offs including Annabelle and The Nun.
Players can jump into the game without prior knowledge of the films, although longtime viewers may recognise some characters. Netflix teased that "a few familiar faces" will appear, with their backstories adding more context for those already familiar with The Conjuring universe.
How does The Conjuring: Unspoken gameplay work?
The Conjuring: Unspoken uses a big screen and smartphone in tandem. The game world appears on the big screen, while the player's phone acts as the controller and Francesca's paranormal investigation kit.
As players explore the Red Lion Inn, they can use the phone to switch between different ghost-hunting tools. The electromagnetic field reader scans for paranormal activity, the infrared camera shows a thermal view of the surroundings and helps locate cold spots, and the spirit box can be used to try to communicate with apparitions. Players will also make dialogue choices throughout the investigation, which can influence how the story develops.
When does The Conjuring: Unspoken release on Netflix?
The Conjuring: Unspoken launches exclusively on Netflix on 13 October. At launch, the game will be available to Netflix members in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, and the US. No Southeast Asian countries are included in Netflix's currently-announced launch territories.
