With the Consolation Bracket over the day moved on to the semi final matches, with everyone excited to see if the Grand Finals would be a rematch between Jaedong and Polt, and curious to see if Polt could be the first person to win back to back WCS titles.
Jaedong vs Byul
Game two both players mirrored each other in the early game, Jaedong went for a very aggressive baneling attack that Byul was able to decisively hold with roaches and managed to take game two with his counterattack going up 2-0 against Jaedong. Game three Jaedong made sure it went into the late game, and managed to suprise Byul with a large ball of Mutalisks, Jaedong continued to inflict significant damage to Byun even taking out Byun's Mutalisk ball giving Jaedong the win. Game four Byun went for a heavy zergling attack early game, however Jaedong managed to hold his natural. Byun then went for a baneling bust, despite not focusing any of the banelings Jaedong was able to hold his ramp due to some fantastic transfusions. Game five was quite one sided, Byun went for nine pool favoring early aggression and Jaedong went expansion before pool. Though he was able to hold Jaedong did suffer extensive damage to his economy, afterwards he was able to followup with Mutalisks which increased his lead. Eventually he teched into roaches and was able to dealth the killing blow to Jaedong taking the series 3-2.
Polt vs Oz
Game one of Oz vs Polt felt consistently back and forth, Oz managed to catch Polt off guard with a proxy stargate opening, building three oracles and decimating Polt's economy. However then Oz went for a templar/collossus/blink stalker attack in which he lost his entire army. Despite this he was able to survive till the late game and managed to have some favorable engages allowing him to take game one over Polt. Game two simply did not go Oz's way, Polt played fantastic against anything Oz could through at him. With some fantastic timing attacks and great macro Polt was able to take a decisive win in game two. Game three Polt showed how much he loves aggressive marine/marauder plays. Relentlessly assaulting Oz's expansions with doom drops and pushes, eventually it simply became too much for Oz to hold and he was forced to GG. Game four was quite a nailbiter with Oz showing some impressive plays, making one colossus and then teching fully into templar/zealot and instead of attempting to deal with Polt's doom drops he simply decided to go all in catching Polt off guard tying up the series 2-2. Game five Polt showed why he was the WCS American Season 2 champion, he changed up his normal play-style of heavy marine/marauder in favor of double starport, and then going into ghost. Oz was simply crushed under his massive army, despite a valiant effort from Oz.
