Bisu announces retirement

?

The legendary player Kim "Bisu" Taek Yong will be leaving professional StarCraft 2 after an eight-year career in eSports. Known in the SC community as the Revolutionist, Bisu will now be taking his mandatory military service.

Having his break-out as a player after defeating Savior in 2007 with a build that would later become the standard in PvZ, Bisu became one of the most accomplished Protoss players in Brood War, showing great consistency in his results, becoming a three-times MSL champion (06-07, 07 and 09) as well as winning the GOMTV Classic Season 2 in 2009. Since his signing with SK Telecom T1 in 2008, he's become one of the aces for the team in the Proleague and has been the poster boy for Boxer's team alongside legendary Terran Fantasy and - in the later StarCraft 2 days - Rain.

To his fans' disappointment, Bisu's transition into StarCraft 2 was a bumpy one with barely any successes. Today, at the end of his eight-year career, Bisu holds a 12-16 record in SC2 games (42,8%), a number nowhere near his prime in BroodWar.

"I am sorry to be retiring from professional play so suddenly. I send my sincerest thanks to my fans who have supported me," said Bisu in reagrding his retirement. The Revolutionist will go on to take his mandatory military service.
