Belgian Protoss Jérémy "Feast" Vansnick will be pausing his StarCraft 2 career indefinitely, even saying he's unsure if he'll return to professional gaming in the future.
Mostly known for his high finishes during the sixth season of Intel Extreme Masters, Feast has been having disappointing results for the second half of 2012 and the entire 2013 so far. In WCS Europe, the Belgian saw a Ro16 ousting from the premier league and he was subsequently eliminated after the challenger league group stage, finishing fourth in a group of Uzer, Titan and Kas. Feast would not return for Europe season two, making his absence noticeable.
In a statement on Millenium.org, Feast explains how he's decided to take an indefinite break from StarCraft, saying that the game has now become a "source of frustration" for him.
Mill.Feast:
"What was supposed to be a break became much longer than was expected.
As you may have noticed, I often took breaks in my career, mainly because I felt in need, but as I used them to find a way to be more efficient that I was always satisfied with the results that I got. So I always had a sense of untapped potential and regardless of whether justified or not, I could not get rid of it.
The reason I have this feeling that I do not work enough for what I want when I think very often I want it more than others.
StarCraft is now for me a source of frustration and even if some believe that I had some achievements in the game, I can not enjoy them, because I firmly believe that I am capable of better.
This pause, much longer than usual, led me to question a lot of things or even some of the choices I have made in my life. This is also why it is currently impossible for me to know if I will continue in the future StarCraft. That being said I do not regret having spent the time I spent on StarCraft.
I want this time the break ends once I have set my problem ... I want to cure my laziness.
I could go on about me long, but I just wanted to explain the reason for my absence, as some of you have encouraged me, enjoyed my game or my character and it is also why I tell you this in the hope that you understand."
