Forza Horizon 6 devs confirm new details on Touge battles, Festival Playlist, and more

More sneak peeks at Forza Horizon 6 have surfaced less than a month before launch.

Developer Playground Games has revealed more details regarding Forza Horizon 6's Touge battles, Festival Playlist, and several additional gameplay changes. The information was relayed in a Discord Q&A, as reported by IGN.

What are Touge battles in Forza Horizon 6?

The first major detail revealed was the game’s Touge battles–a one-on-one racing challenge that takes place across five preset mountain passes on the Japan-inspired map.

In single-player mode, players will encounter a specific opponent parked near the starting point of each mountain route. An online championship mode has also been confirmed, featuring continuous one-on-one battles across all five courses. It is worth noting that Touge battles will not be tied to festival progression.

More information was also shared regarding the upcoming Festival Playlist–Forza Horizon’s seasonal pass system featuring activity challenges and exclusive rewards. This sixth instalment is said to differ significantly from the version seen in Forza Horizon 5, with Playground Games introducing the Festival Playlist much earlier in the game rather than as endgame content.

Players will reportedly gain access to it after unlocking the Horizon Festival, which requires roughly an hour of gameplay.

Forza Horizon 6's aftermarket car system

It was also revealed that Forza Horizon 6 plans to rotate cars from previous line-ups into the new aftermarket car system. Several aftermarket car locations will be scattered across the map, though their car choices will be randomised and differ for each player–an interesting twist on the collection system. Developers also emphasised that unique Forza edition cars will remain very rare.

Additional changes revealed include Forzathon Live being renamed to “Stunt Party”, while the Level 1 starter car in Eliminator mode will now be the 1984 Honda City.

Meanwhile, Legend Island–which remains locked until players reach the highest rank in the Horizon Festival–will feature its own Festival Outpost, exclusive events, and the starting point for the game’s “Goliath” race.

When is Forza Horizon 6 coming out?

Playground Games is set to launch Forza Horizon 6 on 19 May, 2026. The game will be available across Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Microsoft Store/Steam), and Xbox Cloud Gaming, with a PlayStation 5 release hinted for later.

With less than a month remaining until release, deeper looks at the game’s revamped systems and gameplay are likely on the way–though the developers are understandably keeping some surprises under wraps for launch.

Forza Horizon 6 is the sixth instalment in the popular racing series, and also the 14th main installment across the broader Forza franchise. This title follows Forza Horizon 5, which launched five years ago in 2021.
