SKT win the KT rivalry, EG-TL, CJ and T8 eliminated

After today's games, EG-TL, among other teams, will officially not be making the playoffs

SK Telecom's 4-1 win over KT Rolster in today's Proleague officially cuts off the chances of the three teams to make the playofs. Meanwhile, Samsung KHAN score an important victory to keep their hopes for a top four finish.

Strongly needing a victory today to close the gap between themselves and KT Rolster, SKT's line-up entered the booth and delivered, scoring 4-1 against their old rivals. What started with an epic TvT between Flash and Fantasy featuring widow mines galore in mech battles turned into a brutal slaughter right after Stats tied it for KT. Putting Rain, s2 and Parting on the line brought SKT three wins in a row, closing it out before team legend Bisu could get his turn to play.

SKT's victory not only brings them one step closer to the #2 spot but also ensures that three teams will not make the playoffs. Four matches before the end, CJ Entus, Team 8 and EG-TL say goodbye to all hopes for a championship title as they will not be able to break the bare minimum of 20 wins.

In the second match of the day, Samsung KHAN faced STX Soul in a most important match for the team under Stork's captainship. With just sixteen wins throughout the season, KHAN were still in the tournament, although in the bottom half of the table and four wins behind the current number four SKT. Losing to STX would mean certain elimination as KHAN would have to go 16-0 in their last four matches while hoping for diametrically opposite performance from STX to make it through.

Put in a do or die position, KHAN opened with a dominating kick, winning the first three on the backs of Shine, RorO and Reality, eliminating in the process STX's ace Innovation as well as Protoss powerhouses Dear and Trap. Classic and Mini came as fourth and fifth for STX and killed off some of the momentum of KHAN and put the series to a one map difference but KHAN would not let their mighty opening presence go to waste. In a game six PvZ, BroodWar legend Jangbi slashed through Hyvaa for the final 4-2, keeping KHAN's changes for making the playoffs alive.

While not yet dead, KHAN will still have to be on top of their game till the very end of the regular season. Stork's boys are three wins behind SKT at #4, meaning very few if not no mistakes are allowed. KHAN's next chance for improving their scoring is against Boxer's team itself on June 17th.
