Innovation and Classic stepped in to close 4-2 over Fantasy and Rain after an equal start of the series.
While not having the best start in the tournament, STX Soul gradually improved and gathered quite the momentum during rounds four and five (finishing first and third, respectively) to become a real threat to regular heavy hitters SKT and KT Rolster, mostly due to Innovation's rise to supremacy and their Protoss line-up.
With the competition for the second to fourth spot so close, there were bound to be some out-racing and today's match between SK Telecom and STX Soul did just that. Both players badly needed a win here: for SKT it meant closing the gap between them and KT and for STX it was a question of taking a step up. As a result, both teams lined their very best and the playday was under way.
Parting's astounding knowledge and prowess in PvP came to give SK Telecom the early lead but STX's Protoss line-up was still deep and strong. Dear and Mini picked up the dead body of Trap and swung the scales in STX's favor, only to give up the lead shortly thereafter as Bisu overtook Hyvaa for 2-2.
Innovation stepped in for STX in the fifth game and became the first and only non-Protoss to secure a win today. The GSL runner-up slashed Fantasy apart, broke SKT's guard and allowed Classic to follow-up for the 4-2 in yet another PvP against Rain.
This puts STX Soul at number three in the rankings, just one win behind KT Rolster. SK Telecom are third with equal points to STX but also a win behind.
