When STX SouL takes on 10th ranked eSTRO later today, they do so with an unusual crowd favorite in the roster. For the first time in three years, 1111 days to be exact, ToSsGirL is set to play a ProLeague match.
23-year-old ToSsGirL is one of five Terran players on STX SouL's roster, and will today, should her team mates not wipe a clean 3-0 before her, play UpMaGiC on Destination.
STX SouL, which regularly puts team captain Hwasin as the lone Terran in the lineup and at rare times Notice as second Terran, is ranked 4th so far in the ProLeague. Today might be able to run past MBCGame Hero should they win big.
While eSTRO has had a pretty good run so far unlike previous seasons, they will have a tough time against the high caliber players of STX SouL. eSTRO has showed varying results this season, taking down CJ Entus and WeMade FOX, but also losing to AirForce ACE recently.
Last encounter between eSTRO and STX SouL was in early November 2008, it had to go down to the ace game, where Calm defeated Really to win 3-2.
Should ToSsGirL be needed to play tomorrow, it will be her all-time 5th game in the ProLeague. And no matter how much the crowd loves an upset and seeing a female taking down a male in this male-dominated scene, there is not much that speaks for ToSsGirL to win this. While lacking the experience UpMagiC has, the only thing that might be in ToSsGirL's advantage is coming from the underdog position and having more free time to practice for this particular moment.To contrary belief, ToSsGirL has defeated male players before. In the second seasn of GOMTV Classic, she took out Modern before she was eliminated by Nal_keke. She has also defeated Yellow in a best of one game in the Korean World Cyber Games qualifier.
It remains to be seen if tomorrow is one of those days. We might not see it at all, as July, Kal and Hwasin seem to be in an immensely good shape as of late.
