Second game on Return of the King was much more macrobased. But BestGod proved to be the stronger player in this match as well. With masterfully done High Templar drops crippling go.go's economy substantially BestGod never seemed threatened. The nail in the coffin was the recall inside go.go's base, and the battle in the middle where two well placed stasis fields, carriers and a zealous ground force could eliminate the remains of the Terran army.
For the group final, BestGod went up against pre-seeded GGplay from CJ Entus. And the first game on Plasma was on the paper a good map for the Protoss player much thanks to its tight spaces and terrain. But GGplay took an early lead, taking out BestGod's main at 3 o'clock with a burst of lurkers and zerglings. BestGod could hold back a long while, with nice High Templar drops and some reaver harassment. But The STX SouL player proved too sloppy in certain moves and was seen losing his reaver in critical moments. Despite GGplay's low economy, he could go up to ultralisks and cracklings and destroy the base advantage by BestGod and secure the first game.
Second map, Return of the King seemed more in GGplay's favor. BestGod went for a gateway salad, hold the dragoons, and went for an attack to GGplay's natural. The move proved too bold for BestGod, as GGplay could evade it with his many speedlings and two-sunk base defense. GGplay then grabs the map control with his many zerglings and a slight lurker contain outside BestGod. He takes action and expands at both the 11 o'clock natural and main.
GGplay could then continue his reign with the cracklings accompanied by defilers placing well placed dark swarms and plagues. The final blow was when GGplay dropped loads of cracklings in the middle of BestGod's main base, taking out the gateways.
GGplay came out of his booth victorious, and picks Group D, same group as BackHo and Stork are in.
After a after two failed OnGameNet Starleagues, it is probably tough for GGplay to remember and gain strength from his gold medal from the Daum OnGameNet StarLeague in 2007. Until today, GGplay had a terrible losing streak after bad performances in both the last OSL and the ProLeague. Will he be able to bounce back to his former shape in mid 2007?
