PayCheckArena.Com is a website that provides gaming communities with the ability to play for cash. PCA is a new website that got started the beginning of the month. They have decided that a StarCraft: Brood War tournament to open themselves is a good way to start things off.
The Service
PayCheckArena.Com can be considered a service, and as a service it host tournaments and cash prizes for some of the most popular games out on the market. The service is virtually a virgin, meaning new, their first tournament will feature StarCraft: Brood War and than WarCraft III, Quake 4, and CounterStrike 1.6 will come soon enough after.
The Catch
In today's world not everything is free, but things come at a slight cost. For PCA the entry fee for all of the tournaments will be €10 Euros per tournament. The first tournament, which will be the StarCraft Brood War tournament, will be held on March 3rd and end on March 4th, lasting a total of two days.
The Payoff
There is an advantage to all of the fees that are involved into signing up for the tournaments. 70% of your fee will go into the prize pot. Now, the prize pot already guarantees you €1,000 Euros, no matter how many people are in the tournament. Seeing how the maximum amount of gamers for the tournament is 512 gamers, if you add it all up, the total pot for the prize will be no less than €4,584 Euros. Not just the winner gets the prize; if you are in the top 8, you will receive and nice chunk of change for you pockets.
Signing Up & Fees
Signups should be up at the end of this week along with all the detailed rules of the tournament. The tournament will be a single elimination until 32 players are left. From here the format will be changed to a full double elimination tournament. The tournament will be played on Battle.Net.Europe server. The tournament is open to all participants who can register, and than pay the entry fee for the tournament. Registration for the PCA website is totally free, but to enter a tournament you must pay an entry fee.
There are three ways to pay the entrance fee. If you have a MasterCard, Visa Card, or Click2Pay. Click2Pay is basically the same service as PayPal which behaves like an online wallet. Click2Pay is also a free service and cost nothing to sign up for.
The awards will be given to the winners at least 24 hours after the tournament is completed. If the first StarCraft: Brood War tournament is a success than you can expect more tournaments from PCA in the very near future.
For people who do not know much about Euros, €10 Euros equals out to be about $12 USD. Also a new type of Penguin Plug, or another type of anti-hack system will be used for the tournament, to keep the hackers out. Keep those in mind as you register to play!
