WARDOGS' successful Early Access launch
In just over two weeks, WARDOGS has emerged as Bulkhead’s most successful launch yet. It reached its first million copies just one day after launch, followed by 2 million copies five days later and 3 million by its 18th day.
The sales numbers of WARDOGS has matched many of the year’s biggest game releases, with Capcom’s PRAGMATA selling 2 million copies in 16 days, and Nintendo’s Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream selling 3.8 million copies in its first two weeks, to name a few.
WARDOGS has also far surpassed the performance of the studio’s previous multiplayer shooter, Battalion 1944, which sold around 250,000 copies in 11 days following its full release.
Fans are loving the new shooter, as tens of thousands of players recommended the game on Steam, rewarding it with a Very Positive rating.
WARDOGS is also showcasing an impressive player count. Three days after launch, it recorded a peak of 428,666 concurrent players on Steam and has since maintained daily peaks of around 300,000 players.
It is now among Steam’s top five most-played games, putting WARDOGS alongside big names such as PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2.
What is ‘WARDOGS’ about?
WARDOGS is a large-scale FPS that pits 100 players across three teams against each other as they fight over the Control Zone on a vast 256 km² destructible battlefield. It has been described as an all-out warfare experience, with many players comparing it to games such as Hell Let Loose, Squad and Battlefield.
The game had been in development for three years before being officially revealed in February this year. Its journey to Early Access progressed quickly, with a closed beta taking place just over a month before its launch on 10 September 2026.
Bulkhead is already working on Season 02, which is slated to launch on 15 October.
The studio also revealed WARDOGS’ nomination for ‘Best Early Access Game 2026’ at the Golden Joystick Awards.
