Umamusume's English version to get autoplay, PC visual enhancements for 1.5 anniversary

Umamusume's English version will be getting features currently available in the Japanese version much earlier than expected.

Umamusume: Pretty Derby developer Cygames announced on Sunday (5 July) that the game's global version will be getting quality-of-life features currently available in the original Japanese version for its 1.5-year anniversary celebration–much earlier than expected. These features include the implementation of an ‘Independent Training’ autoplay feature as well as 60 FPS and 4K resolution Concerts to the game's PC version.

The Independent Training feature was only added to Umamusume's Japanese version just last month. With the game's global version having released on June 26, 2025, global players can expect the new features to be added around December.

“To make your daily training tasks more convenient to complete, and to convey the brilliance of your trainees even more spectacularly, we are pleased to announce the early implementation of these new features currently available in the Japanese version of the game into the English version,” Cygames said in its announcement.

How does Umamusume's ‘Independent Training’ autoplay feature work?

Umamusume's Independent Training feature allows players to automatically progress a Career run in the background in real time, even while players use other in-game features or the game itself is closed. A Career run using the Independent Training feature will take 50 minutes to complete, with a timer

In the game's Japanese version, players can activate the Independent Training feature before starting a Career run. Before starting, players must first set three factors that will affect how the autoplay feature will conduct the Career: ‘self-training policy’, ‘race rotation’, and 'skill priority'.

Self-training policy affects which stats will be prioritised when training your selected Umamusume. For example, a player can choose to prioritise specific stats like Speed or have a more balanced spread of stats being improved.

Race rotation allows the player to pre-select which races their Umamusume will run, similar to how the ‘Agenda’ feature will automatically notify the player that they can run a selected race on the turn it is available. If a race rotation isn't set, then your Umamusume will only run in the target races that they are required to run in their Career.

Meanwhile, skill priority allows the player to select up to 10 skill hints from their selected Support Cards to prioritise during training events.

While the Independent Training feature offers a ton of convenience, it is not recommended to be used when training an ‘Ace’ Umamusume for Team Trials or Champions Meeting races. If you want to get the optimal stats and skills for those game modes, then it is still better to manually train your Ace Umamusume.

Instead, the Independent Training feature is better used for completing the daily Career completion goal or to help advance progress for in-game events to unlock rewards. While not optimal, the Independent Training feature can also be used for training ‘Legacy’ Umamusume to have the right stat and skill ‘Sparks’ that will then help you train an Ace Umamusume. The recently-added ‘Spark Reroll’ feature will also help players toward this goal.

In addition, the Independent Training feature will not unlock trophies or concerts for winning races for the first time.

What to expect from Umamusume's upcoming 60 FPS and 40K resolution visual update

As part of Cygames' efforts to add features currently available in Umamusume's Japanese version to the English version, the latter will first get a 60 FPS visual update for in-game Concerts followed by 4K resolution support. These features are only available for the game's PC version.

“By raising the frame rate from the original 30 FPS to 60 FPS, you can enjoy the Umamusume's dancing and stage performances with incredible smoothness. Furthermore, 4K resolution provides amazing detail to the textures of their outfits and the finest nuances of their facial expressions,” Cygames said in the announcement.

The developer also promised to improve the player experience and implement more convenient features to the Umamusume's English version in the future.

“Starting with these early features, we will continue to work to improve your experience and implement more convenient features moving forward. During the 1.5-year anniversary period, we've crafted a variety of exciting events to express our gratitude, alongside many new stories featuring the Umamusume you love,” added Cygames.

“Thank you very much for your continued support of Umamusume: Pretty Derby.”
