Meanwhile, Team Liquid Alienware bow out of the competition in 12th to 14th place.
It's another battle for survival at the League of Legends World Championship 2026 Swiss Stage, as CBLOL first seed
LOS took on LCS first seed
Team Liquid Alienware (TLAW) to keep their Worlds campaigns alive. After a hard-fought three-game series, it was LOS that emerged victorious over TLAW to avoid elimination and keep their hopes of reaching the Knockout Stage alive.
Coming into the tournament as heavy underdogs, LOS have defied expectations. The Brazilian representatives had a difficult start to their Swiss Stage campaign, suffering consecutive losses to
T1 and
G2 Esports. However, they bounced back with a convincing 2-0 victory over
Team Secret Whales, eliminating the LCP first seed and securing their first series win at Worlds 2026.
Meanwhile, TLAW are fighting to keep North America's hopes alive on home soil. The LCS champions also struggled in their opening matches, falling to
CTBC Flying Oyster and
Bilibili Gaming before pulling off a stunning 2-0 upset against LPL first seed
Anyone's Legend. The victory gave them another chance to fight for a place in the Knockout Stage.
LOS take the first game with Curse's dominant Trundle
LOS found early picks and punished TLAW in teamfights, allowing the Brazilian squad to establish a small gold lead, with Raí “Curse” Yamada's Trundle dominating the fights. TLAW attempted to find ways to play around Trundle and prevent LOS from extending their advantage, but the CBLOL representatives continued to outplay their opponents, eventually securing the first Baron and taking control of Summoner's Rift.
TLAW struggled to find opportunities to make plays or defend their territory as LOS dominated the map, leaving the LCS champions with little room to mount a comeback. A messy teamfight eventually broke out as both teams contested the Dragon, but once again, LOS came out on top, cleaning up most of TLAW's players.
After 29 minutes, LOS destroyed TLAW's Nexus with a 15-7 kill lead to claim the first game of the series.
TLAW fight back to force a deciding third game
With their backs against the wall, TLAW fought back in the second game, finding multiple successful plays in the bot lane as Sean "Yeon" Sung's Lucian aggressively bullied LOS and picked up several kills to establish an early gold lead. As both teams contested the Rift Herald, LOS found a pick onto Yeon that threatened to turn the fight in their favour. However,
Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in's Nami caught multiple LOS members with her Tidal Wave, allowing TLAW to turn the fight around, secure several kills, and claim the Rift Herald.
LOS were far from finished, finding a flank in the mid lane after TLAW overextended. The Brazilian squad capitalised on the opportunity to mount a comeback, swinging the gold lead in their favour and reclaiming control of the map. With LOS once again dictating the pace of the game, TLAW struggled to find a way back into the fight.
Their opportunity finally came as TLAW baited LOS into the river near the Dragon pit while setting up for Dragon Soul. CoreJJ once again landed a crucial Tidal Wave, while Brandon “Josedeodo” Joel Villegas's Xin Zhao stepped up with several decisive plays and kills to help TLAW clean up the fight. The LCS champions went on to secure Dragon Soul and Baron, opening up the map and reclaiming the gold lead.
Josedeodo continued his impressive performance in the fight for the Elder Dragon, helping TLAW push LOS away and secure the objective. After a hard-fought 38-minute encounter, TLAW destroyed LOS' Nexus with a 15-8 kill lead to equalise the series and force a deciding third game.
LOS survive TLAW's late game comeback to claim the series
LOS once again found early kills in the third game, aggressively targeting TLAW's mid and bot lanes to establish an early advantage. TLAW attempted to stop the bleeding by preventing further kills and plays, but LOS maintained their composure and continued to punish their opponents' aggression in the bottom lane. This allowed the Brazilian squad to widen the gold gap, making it increasingly difficult for TLAW to find opportunities as LOS extended their lead.
TLAW also struggled to claim crucial bounties that could have helped them mount a comeback, allowing LOS to secure the Baron and tighten their control over Summoner's Rift. However, just as things were looking bleak for the LCS champions, Yeon managed to steal the Dragon and take down Tristana, giving TLAW's carries a chance to extend the game. LOS found another teamfight that nearly ended the series, but Park “Morgan” Ru-han managed to stop
Kim “ZEST” Dong-min's Tristana from marching down the mid lane and closing out the game.
With the game still alive, TLAW secured the Baron, although LOS managed to claim Infernal Soul. Yeon's Yunara began to make a significant impact as the game dragged on, with both teams eventually reaching full builds. TLAW claimed another Baron, and the back-and-forth exchanges gradually slowed LOS' aggression, giving the North American squad more opportunities to fight back.
However, everything came down to a crucial fight around the Elder Dragon. LOS managed to find their targets and win the decisive engagement, securing the Elder Dragon and finally putting an end to TLAW's resistance. After an intense 47-minute battle, LOS destroyed TLAW's Nexus with a 16-5 kill lead, completing the 2-1 series victory and keeping their Worlds 2026 campaign alive.
With their victory, LOS have avoided elimination and will have one final chance to qualify for the Knockout Stage.
Meanwhile, Team Liquid Alienware bow out of the competition in 12th to 14th place, taking home US$125,000 in consolation prize money.
