In an interview with Dignitas esports, Ly0n discusses his personal life, his history in the Dota world, the differences between Dota and Dota 2, the team's recent performances and more. Below are excerpts of some questions from the interview.
If you could add any hero to Dota2 from Dota1 which would it be?
Ly0n: Well, there are several heroes that I would like to add to Dota2, but I think my first 2 chioces would be Phantom Lancer and Phantom Assassin. I think DotA2 could use more carry heroes at this moment.
Recently Icefrog (+Valve) added Outworld (ex-Obsidian) Destroyer to the capitans mode (still in test version), how much of an impact do you think it will have over the metagame?
Ly0n: I was really waiting for this hero since its one of my all time favorites. It will definitely affect the metagame since Destroyer is such a big counter for almost every hard carry hero. The Outworld Destroyer is a complete hero in my opinion, with an escape mechanism, with one big AoE ultimate, and if he gets his farm he deals huge amounts of damage in a very short time.
Also in a previous update heroes like Skeleton King, Alchemist, Axe and more recently Batrider got some needed buffs, do you think we'll see more of them in competitive games?
Ly0n: Skeleton King is already being picked in competitive games, the other 3 heroes are still lacking something. I don't know what, but they do, that’s why we don’t see them getting picked. I think many teams would like to pick them but they just dont dare because they don't wanna take that risk.
One of the heroes you guys are very fond of, Rikimaru, got a 25% upgrade to his most important skill, Backstab, going from 1x of his agility in bonus damage to 1.25x of his agility (lvl4). Do you think he will be a solid pick when this change gets implemented in tournament version?
Ly0n: Its definitely an improvement, but even with 1x agi it's still a viable pick for us. We really like playing Rikimaru, "he" is a very good damage dealer, with aoe silence, perma invisbility (thing that make the opponents to spend some extra money for true sight) and he's definetly a nice counter for the imbalanced anti-mage .
Why do you think intelligence heroes like Necrolyte, Warlock, Queen of Pain or Krobelus aren't picked so often nowadays?
Ly0n: Queen of Pain and Krobelus got picked a few times in competitive games. Mainly I think its easier to build more effective strats with other heroes.
You were recently knocked out of the Lower Bracket of The Defense tournament in the match against aL. What do you think went wrong in that best out of three series?
Ly0n: In the first game everything went in our favour, we played exactly how we wanted to. In the second game we were kinda expecting for more damage to be dealt by the death prophet. Well, that and some personal mistakes from our part and a nice game played by aL resulted in a game loss. In the third, we were a bit tired and we got outpicked.
There are only 3 teams left in The Defense right now: EG, Na'vi in the winner bracket and Quantic Gaming in the lower bracket. Which one do you think has the most chances of coming out as 1st place? (Question was asked before Quantic advanced into the final)
Ly0n: I think its gonna be very tight, but Na’Vi will eventually win it. Between EG and Quantic is hard to chose because in my opinion EG has more talented players but Quantic have better teamplay and since Mania joined then they are completely different team.
The team will be participating in the upcoming Fnatic RaidCall cup and the tournament orgainzed by Dignitas, so stay tuned for more updates.
