CFO, TES, T1, Gen.G, HLE, and G2 qualify for the Knockouts at Worlds 2025

Meanwhile, Bilibili Gaming, FlyQuest, Movistar KOI, Team Secret Whales, Vivo Keyd Stars, and 100 Thieves bow out of the competition.

The Swiss Stage of the League of Legends (LoL) World Championship 2025 has come to a thrilling close after two intense weeks of high-stakes matches, many of them do-or-die clashes that kept fans on the edge of their seats. While Anyone's Legend and KT Rolster have secured their place in the Knockout Stage early in the first week, twelve other teams continued to fight for their tournament lives in the second week.

The first three teams to punch their tickets to the Knockout Stage earlier in the second week were Hanwha Life Esports, Gen.G, and G2 Esports, each finishing the Swiss Stage with a 3-1 record. 

Meanwhile, the final day of the Swiss saw CTBC Flying Oyster (CFO), Top Esports, and T1 claim the last remaining Knockout spots.

Hanwha Life Esports ride a winning surge into Knockouts

Hanwha Life Esports are building a win streak at Worlds.

LCK second seed Hanwha Life Esports may have struggled against LPL’s Anyone’s Legend in the first round of the Swiss Stage, but the South Korean team have shaken the nerves off and finished strong, breezing through rounds two to four, by taking down the LCP’s PSG Talon, then defeating 100 Thieves in the third round, and finally sweeping the LCP’s CFO 2-0 to qualify for the Quarterfinals.

Tournament favourites and reigning Mid-Season Invitational champions Gen.G were expected to breeze through Swiss, but their road was far from flawless. After an opening win over PSG Talon, they were handed a surprise loss by China’s Anyone’s Legend in Round 2. 

Fate then matched them up against their long-time rivals, T1, in a high-stakes third-round clash, and Gen.G prevailed, toppling the reigning World Champions. They sealed their Knockout qualification by dispatching LPL powerhouse Top Esports in commanding fashion.

G2 Esports return to the Knockout Stage after five long years

G2 are back at the Knockout Stage at Worlds.

G2 Esports made headlines in Week 2 of the Swiss Stage, qualifying for the Knockout Stage for the first time in five years. The LEC champions opened their campaign with a loss to Top Esports, but bounced back in style, defeating fellow European representatives Movistar KOI in Round 2. 

In Round 3, G2 finally broke their losing streak against BLG, a team that had bested them in previous tournaments, before closing out their Swiss run with a 2-1 triumph over LTA champions FlyQuest to advance to the Quarterfinals.

CTBC Flying Oyster make history as the LCP’s first Worlds quarterfinalist

Another team that made history at the Swiss Stage is CTBC Flying Oyster, being the first quarterfinalist of the LCP, the newly formed region in the Asia Pacific. 

CFO started strong with wins for the first round against Fnatic and an upset win against T1 in the second round. The team then had it rough in round three, dropping the match against Anyone’s Legend, but not without winning one round, 2-1. Then they were swept by HLE in the fourth round 2-0. The LCP team regrouped and executed a statement win against FlyQuest 2-0, to qualify for the Knockout Stage.

Top Esports edge out LPL first seed BLG to qualify for Knockouts

Top Esports have defeated BLG in a revenge match.

Top Esports came as the LPL’s third seed. The team started strong by defeated LEC champions G2 Esports in the first round, and LTA’s third seed, 100 Thieves in the second round. However, they suffered a 0-2 loss against KT Rolster in the third round, and Gen.G in the fourth round 0-2. In the fifth round, they were faced with BLG, the LPL’s first seed, where they were able to execute revenge 2-1 to qualify for the Knockout stage.

T1 survive a turbulent run at the Swiss stage

T1 have finally qualified for the Knockout stage. 

T1 fans can finally breathe easy, as the reigning World Champions have secured their spot in the Knockout Stage after a turbulent run through the Swiss Stage.

T1 opened strong with a win over FlyQuest in the first round but stumbled in the next two, falling to CFO in Round 2 and Gen.G in Round 3. Refusing to bow out early, the team rallied back with a clean 2-0 sweep against 100 Thieves, then closed out their Swiss campaign with another 2-0 sweep over Movistar KOI, a hard-fought series that sealed their Quarterfinal qualification.

These teams will go head-to-head in a single elimination, best-of-five match at the knockout stage. Here are the matchups for the Quarterfinals:

Meanwhile, FlyQuest, Bilibili Gaming, and  bow out of the competition in 9th to 11th place taking home US$175,000 in consolation. On the other hand, Team Secret Whales, Vivo Keyd Stars and 100 Thieves, on the other hand, exit the tournament in 12th to 14th place, taking home US$125,000 in consolation.
