The 40th anniversary celebration of Nintendo's smash-hit game franchise, The Legend of Zelda, kicked off with some new announcements for its upcoming remake of the beloved Ocarina of Time entry. But beyond gameplay reveals and other juicy updates, Nintendo also unveiled a special edition of the Switch 2 console, designed to commemorate the long history of one of Nintendo's most enduring games.
What do we know about the The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary edition of the Nintendo Switch 2?
Nintendo gave fans a first look at the The Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary edition of the console, which features a unique design across the console's main body: the Triforce, a sacred, wish-granting relic that is central to the overarching lore of the game.
Besides the main body, Triforce decals will also be featured on both Joy-Cons, as well as its charging dock.
In addition, Nintendo will release a special version of the Switch 2 Pro Controller and Switch 2 Carrying Case, which will also feature the Triforce design.
The special version console will launch in Japan on 29 October, 2026. This version is labelled “Japanese and domestic only", and will be priced at JP¥ 62,980, or USD 403.5 when converted. The set will also include the usual Switch 2 components: Joy-Con 2 straps, Joy-Con 2 grip, an AC Adapter, a USB-C charging cable, and an ultra high speed HDMI cable.
Nintendo have yet to confirm pricing for the special version of Nintendo Switch 2 or if it will be released globally.
