Ezreal, Kayn, Sett, K’Sante, Yone, and Aphelios are making a comeback!
After multiple reported leaks, Riot Games has finally teased the return of HEARTSTEEL, the League of Legends boy band made up of Ezreal, Kayn, Sett, K’Sante, Yone, and Aphelios.
The teaser was posted across official League of Legends social media accounts, as well as the official Riot Games Music X (formerly Twitter) account, on Wednesday (9 September).
The short video shows an answering machine sitting by a window before a flurry of messages from the HEARTSTEEL members begins playing. The final surprise comes from a female voice leaving a message as the group’s manager. League fans familiar with HEARTSTEEL’s lore and the PARANOIA splash art will recognise her as Alune, Aphelios’ sister.
Who are HEARTSTEEL in League of Legends?
HEARTSTEEL made their League of Legends debut in 2023, with six champions taking on different roles in the virtual boy band. Ezreal is the group’s vocalist, Kayn its rapper and instrumentalist, Sett its co-leader and rapper, and K’Sante its co-leader and vocalist. Meanwhile, Yone serves as HEARTSTEEL’s producer, while Aphelios is an instrumentalist and songwriter.
The group also takes its name from Heartsteel, the tank item introduced to League of Legends during the 2023 preseason. Originally released as a Mythic item, Heartsteel rewards players for repeatedly fighting enemy champions by granting permanent maximum health through its Colossal Consumption passive.
Four artists provided the voices behind the group’s debut single, PARANOIA: BAEKHYUN of K-pop group EXO as Ezreal, Cal Scruby as Kayn, ØZI as Sett, and tobi lou as K’Sante. Yone and Aphelios did not have corresponding vocalists on the track.
HEARTSTEEL made their debut with PARANOIA in October 2023, before taking the track to the Worlds stage a few weeks later. BAEKHYUN, Cal Scruby, ØZI, and tobi lou performed the song live during the League of Legends Worlds 2023 Opening Ceremony at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on 19 November, giving the virtual boy band its first live performance in front of the Worlds crowd.
Riot Games has yet to confirm whether the four artists will return for HEARTSTEEL’s comeback, or if a different line-up of singers will take on the champions this time around.
Riot Games Music returns as HEARTSTEEL and K/DA comeback rumours grow
The HEARTSTEEL teaser comes shortly after Riot Games producer Paul “Pabro” Bellezza revealed in a developer update that the second Act of League of Legends Season 3 will put a bigger focus on music.
That has added further weight to recent reports and leaks pointing towards the return of both K/DA and HEARTSTEEL ahead of Worlds 2026 and Teamfight Tactics Set 19. Riot previously teased Set 19 as featuring TFT’s “biggest musical event yet” when it revealed the game’s 2026 roadmap last December.
There has also been unconfirmed material circulating around potential new HEARTSTEEL skins and updated looks for all six champions, although Riot Games has yet to officially reveal what the group will look like when it returns.
A day before the HEARTSTEEL teaser, the official Riot Games Music X account also suddenly became active again after more than two years of silence. Its first post back featured a short montage of music videos from across Riot Games Music’s catalogue.
HEARTSTEEL may not be the only Riot Games virtual group preparing for a comeback. K/DA also began making waves in August after a new song titled WATCH ME appeared in the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers’ (ASCAP) repertory, with K/DA listed as the performer. The listing has yet to result in an official K/DA announcement, but combined with Riot’s confirmation that League of Legends is heading into a music-focused Act, it has fuelled speculation that K/DA could be making a return alongside HEARTSTEEL.
