Upset makes the move from Fnatic to Team Vitality ahead of the LEC Spring Split

Team Vitality signs one of the LEC's best and brightest ADCs.

It has been confirmed that Elias "Upset" Lipp has switched from Fnatic to Team Vitality ahead of the upcoming LEC Spring Split. He spent two years with Fnatic, helping them achieve two top-three finishes and a top-10 placement at Worlds last year. He will be making his return to the LEC stage after spending some time away from the league.

Having joined Fnatic in the 2020 offseason to replace the then-departed Martin "Rekkles" Larsson, Upset was part of the roster that brought the team to Worlds in 2021. Unfortunately, could not join due to personal issues. At last year's Worlds, both he and a teammate contracted COVID-19 just days before the tournament.

With Rekkles now back in the fold, Upset was initially moved back to the Fnatic bench and had to watch his team crash and burn in the LEC Winter Split. Having taken no part in the team's 2-7 round-robin display, Upset will now join up with Team Vitality as they hope to take the LEC Spring Split by storm. While the team did make it past the round-robin, they could not get past the group stage and had to settle for a fifth-place finish.

Upset will be joined by LEC veterans in the form of midlaner Luka "Perkz" Perković as well as support player and fellow German, Norman "Kaiser" Kaiser. Kyeong "Photon" Gyu-tae and Zhou "Bo" Yang-Bo rounds up the team starting roster as Upset will replace Matúš "Neon" Jakubčík in the AD carry role.

In an update to the team's official website, Vitality has gone on to wish Neon nothing but the best and they will also "work alongside him to assist him in finding a new team that will be able to utilize his many talents."

The LEC Spring Split starts in about a week with the regular season matches set to take place first. All 10 teams in the LEC will be in action with Vitality taking on MAD Lions at the opening weekend.
