Astral Authority releases KilluZion, benches Equinox

Equinox joins a new team, while KilluZiion becomes free agent after being released from Astral Authority.

Astral Authority announced Tuesday they would be immediately releasing Killuzion, along with benching Equinox for the remainder of his contract.

Along with announcing the player releases, we get a closer insight into player contracts which organizations rarely allow when making roster changes. Contracts between players and organizations are usually a touchy subject, especially after the King of Blades 'fiasco'.

The press release states "both internal as well as external issues" as the reason for both player releases.

Individually regarding Equinox, Astral states he has had concerns for the team and his personal play since the Burbank Regional. He also expressed that he intended to join the roster of another team for the first Fall Regional qualifiers. Due to this breach of contract, Equinox or his new team will be required to buyout the rest of his contract.

This material breach of contract suprised our staff and Chiefs of Staff. Our hope remains that we advance not only the industry but our organization as well. Unfortunately, Equinox will be benched until his buyout is met. ”

Shortly after, Equinox put out a statement about his release. His statement claims he told the team a week ago he would be leaving because they have not improved since after Burbank.

2-3 days after I left I got an opportunity to play for another team so I took it. Last night it became a big issue that I'm playing for someone else and it's made to look like I left to join another team from the start, rumors get around I guess. ”

No word yet on the new team he'll be joining, but with Fall Regional qualifiers now open, it should be announced soon.

As for KilluZiion, Astral states that he has made the organization aware that he does not function well with their coaching staff and will be pursuing other opportunities.

With deeper insight into the reasoning, KilluZiion released his own statement .

 For a while now, I wanted to role swap from warrior to support. I've been put on a warrior position on my 1st competitive team (Wild Growth) and this is why i played warrior in the pro scene. In the end, I always wanted to play support. ”

Although he said he got the chance to tryout as support for another team, Kill says that he is now a free agent and will keep competing int he Heroes scene.
