GIA has been Taiwan's representative at Blizzcon and at the Spring Global Championship in Seoul. But surprisingly, the team is no more; all 6 of its members have gone their separate ways, and a new champion must emerge to represent Taiwan at Dreamhack All Stars - Summer in Sweden.
PBA should be considered the favourite to represent Taiwan in Sweden, coming from the winners' half of the bracket and having two former members of GIA on its roster, namely GoDDog and Baphomet.
Their opponents, ROT, are far less accomplished. In their opening match, they lost 0-2 to El and had to face them again in the Losers Finals. Like PBA, El has two former members of GIA on its roster, Rival and Blueway. Between these two facts, it seemed unlikely that ROT would be able to make it to the Grand Finals, but in a surprise upset they defeated El 2-1, winning a back and forth Game 1 before decisively rolling in Game 3 despite a slow start.
The biggest question about Taiwan is in the absence of GIA, will Taiwan be able to do anything on an international stage? We won't find out until Dreamhack All Stars - Summer, but we certainly can find out who will represent Taiwan there and if that team looks even remotely capable of facing stronger competition.
