Going into Dreamhack All Stars - Tours, Team Dignitas were the clear favourites. The results so far suggest that mYinsanity or Fnatic may be more likely to win the event than Team Dignitas.
Group A
Group A was expected to be a tough group to come out of with lots of exciting matches, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The opening match between teh89 and Put it in the chips was incredibly close - Game 3 on Dragon Shire would come down to a questionable all-in core call with the DK from Put it in the chips, which was successfully defended by teh89 with 33% hitpoints on their core.
But the real upset came in the match afterwards, with Team Dignitas playing mYinsanity. Game 1 took place on Infernal Shrines, and this draft was very unique, to say the least - Team Dignitas ended the draft with a last pick murky! Unfortunately, this pick backfired pretty spectacularly - in the game itself, Team Dignitas got no forts, no punishers, and 3 kills the entire game as mYinsanity pretty much cruised to victory in a little over 19 minutes. The German team would go on to 2-0 Team Dignitas, and then 2-0 teh89 to win the group.
Team Dignitas continued to struggle in the lower bracket, losing on Cursed Hollow against Put it in the chips but ultimately winning the match 2-1.
Group B
The matches in this group mostly went as expected, with Fnatic finishing the group in 1st place after winning 2-0 against Evil Murkies and Team Liquid. Team Liquid surprisingly dropped a map to Never Lucky, which was expected to be the weakest team in the group, and will face the home team Evil Murkies in the decider match tomorrow as Evil Murkies also came out on top over Never Lucky with a 2-1 win in their match.
The big storyline coming out of this day was the unexpected struggles of the EU powerhouse Team Dignitas. All eyes will be on them tomorrow to see if they can regain their dominant form in time to cement themselves as the top EU team, or whether a team like Fnatic or mYinsanity will win Dreamhack All-Stars - Tours instead.
