With the ANZ HotS scene not nearly as developed as the major regions, and with funding for tournaments not coming all that freely, the people over at ANZHeroes.com have decided to go down the crowdfunding route.
When the kickstarter campagin was launched a little over a week ago, ANZ Heroes were looking for a reasonable $2500 (AUD) in order to get a competitive league up and running. Aiming to start early in March, the Autumn League would see 8 teams play each week in a round robin format leading up to a single elimination bracket to determine the overall winner. The overall goal is to make leagues such as these run throughout most of the year, promoting growth and development within the region.
As was seen with the first two parts of the ANZ Spring Championship Qualifiers, given an incentive there are players and teams within Australia and New Zealand that are willing to compete. Unfortunately up until this point these opportunities have been few and far inbetween, making this extremely important in shaping Heroes of the Storm in Australia and New Zealand for the whole of 2016.
As of right now, the kickstarter has reached $511 of the required $2500 in order for everything to go ahead as planned, with 2 weeks until the deadline. For more information about the event and maybe to help out in any way possible, head over to ANZHeroes.com and also the Autumn League Kickstarter page.
