GTA VI launch trailer teases Jason and Lucia’s past, Justice confirmed as game composer

It looks like Jason and Lucia have some shared history.

Rockstar Games has officially released a launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, its highly-anticipated open world game that is now just over a month from launching. The trailer shows off more crime-ridden shenanigans in the state of Leonida, and teases that Jason and Lucia might have had some shared history before the events of the game. The trailer also confirms that musical artist Justice will compose music for the game.

What is the song used in GTA VI’s launch trailer?

This week, Rockstar released a launch trailer to kick off the imminent release of its highly-anticipated crime game GTA VI. The new trailer features music from the electronic duo musical group Justice, who is also composing the game’s original score. This trailer debuts an all-new song, entitled Flowers in a Hurricane.

The song, by Justice, also features several other big names in the music industry: Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The song is included in Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, a previously-announced official soundtrack that is currently available for pre-saving on most music streaming platforms.

GTA VI’s launch trailer is the first official footage Rockstar has released from the game since the Netflix Extended Look, but it's a lot shorter and less surprising by comparison. The trailer begins with Jason explaining that he was in the army but didn't leave “on the best of terms” which has since put him in the unfortunate position of not being able to qualify for loans. Lucia then gives him a call from prison, suggesting that the two knew each other before the events of the game–but the true extent of their history together is left unknown.

The rest of the trailer is pretty standard, but nonetheless exciting GTA fare. We see various recurring characters, who all seem colourful in their own ways, including one who ostensibly owns and plays with a large snake. We also see hints of Jason and Lucia’s romance, including the duo showering together.

The trailer ends with Lucia worriedly asking Jason: “Are we going to be okay?” Jason reassures her that “We've stuck together through everything. We just gotta get through it.” After a few more action-packed shots of their crime spree, the two jump into a pool from high up together.

GTA VI will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 19 November, 2026.
