What is included in the God of War Laufey Collector’s Box?

The God of War Laufey Collector’s Box includes three items:
- Light-Up Freya Statue – An eight-inch-tall statue featuring Faye, Phranque, and Rue fighting against Begtse’s soldiers. Phranque lights up when the statue is connected to a USB power source.
- 51-Card Oracle Deck – A set of 51 cards featuring custom illustrations by Megan Lara, depicting your adventure through Everywhen.
- Physical Mini Artbook – A collection of concept art showcasing the characters, creatures, and environments of God of War: Laufey.
How does God of War Laufey’s Collector’s Box compare to previous editions?
God of War Laufey marks the second major game to adapt the game-less collector’s edition approach recently, after Grand Theft Auto (GTA) VI introduced its US$400 Collector’s Box two weeks ago.
Rockstar’s blockbuster game boasts a jaw-dropping US$400 price tag for its Collector’s Box, which includes neither the base game nor any items representing its protagonists, Jason and Lucia.
Still, God of War Laufey’s Collector’s Box falls short of previous collector’s packages in the franchise.
Priced at US$200, God of War Ragnarök’s Collector’s Edition not only included a digital game code but also 12 different physical and digital items. One of its standout features was a gigantic, highly detailed 16-inch replica of Mjölnir.
Meanwhile, the 2018 God of War’s Collector’s Edition retailed for US$130 and included a physical copy of the game, a nine-inch statue of Kratos and Atreus, a cloth map, and a lithograph, alongside several other digital bonuses.
Fans are unhappy with this approach, which suggests that more publishers are turning their most premium game packages into merchandise-only add-ons. Rockstar has already done so with GTA VI, and Sony has followed suit with God of War Laufey. It may only be a matter of time before other major releases follow the same trend.
