Team Blaze are definitely not newcomers to the professional HotS scene, but their biggest strides have definitely been made in recent times. Going toe to toe with every top team in North America, their unique approach to drafting and gameplay keep everyone on edge.
So when it comes to innovation, you'd be hard pressed to find a more likely source. As the meta shifts, you can bet easily that Team Blaze will be the first ones to try out the 'next big thing'. Placing a Sanctification underneath an ulting Diablo is nothing incredibly new. With Sanct becoming the preferable ult for Tyrael, and death being one of the few things that interrupts a Diablo, it just makes sense. So... if you're going to do it anyways, why not increase the damage by 25%?
What was already an incredibly powerful ult becomes a sheer wall of fire and death. In practice, it melted an enemy Falstad in less than a second. Could Team Blaze have found the next powerful new combo?
If their performance in ETS NA 2 so far is anything to go by, I'd say yes. Team Blaze appears to thrive in the confusion caused during a patch period, exploiting potentially game changing combos before anyone else thinks to use them.
