The NA qualifiers for Enter the Storm were given a bit of a head start, but today EU also got to begin the process of qualifying for the Enter the Storm EU #4 main event.
The qualifiers for Enter the Storm NA #1 have been going for a few weeks now, and that is bringing us a ton of awesome games. But here at GosuGamers we can never have enough Heroes of the Storm, so today we also started the qualifiers for the fourth Enter the Storm for the EU region.
A total of 30 teams signed up, including notable teams like Virtus.Pro, G2 and Team Liquid. G2 however had the bad luck of meeting Team Liquid in the second round, who ended up making it to the finals. The other finalists were Bubble Squad, an up-and-coming team that managed to defeat Virtus.Pro as well as other respectable teams such as Konkey Dong and Goofers.
The difference in experience between powerhouse Team Liquid and Bubble Squad clearly showed. On Sky Temple, the first map, Team Liquid went for a double warrior-double support composition which provided enough bulkyness and crowd control to keep Bubble Squad from playing their desired game. BS' ETC hardly got Moshpits off and Tyrande was often blown up quickly in fights, negating a large part of the damage potential. TL's ability to go hard in fights while being masterfully supported by GerdamHerd and VortiX allowed a fast level advantage eventually leading into a 19-16 situation right before destroying the core.
The second (and, spoilers, final) game of the series saw the return of the already famed damage-Kharazim from Lowell. A build made viable purely due to the way early game is now balanced, Lowell has been frequently playing Kharazim as a sort of assassin-support hybrid. Battlefield of Eternity was the map of choice for Team Liquid, but provided a far closer game than the first one. Bubble Squad decided to go for Tyrande as solo support, with her Hunter's Mark being very valuable in taking down the immortals, along with Falstad to provide splitpush potential. However their team play crumbled under the constant pressure of TL, and after a game-winning Mosh-Pit into Ring of Frost into Devouring Maw combo, Team Liquid marched to victory without finishing their opponent's Immortal.
The result was a very solid, and not surprising, run by Team Liquid which made them the winners of the first qualifiers. Registrations for the second qualifier are currently open, which will take place a week from today.
