Karmine Corp sweep MVK Esports to secure final LoL Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage spot

Karmine Corp will face 15 other teams at the Swiss Stage.

It all came down to the final day of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship Play-In Stage, where just two teams remained in the fight for the last ticket to the Swiss Stage.

In the end, it wasKarmine Corp (KC) who emerged victorious, taking down MVK Esports in a dominant 3-0 sweep to secure their place in the next stage of Worlds 2026.

KC entered the final qualification series undefeated in the Play-In Stage, although their journey was not without its challenges. The LEC representatives had to fight tooth and nail to survive their opening series against Cloud9 KIA, narrowly escaping with a 3-2 victory. They then defeated MVK Esports in the upper bracket to advance directly to the final qualification series.

Meanwhile, MVK surprised the League of Legends community with a strong showing in their Worlds debut, opening their campaign with a victory over the more experienced FURIA Esports. Although the Vietnamese squad fell to KC in the upper bracket, they bounced back with a convincing 3-1 victory over the CBLOL representatives in the lower bracket to earn another shot at the European squad.

Here is how the final Play-In Stage series unfolded.

Game 1: Karmine Corp dominate MVK Esports in 28-minute opener

Karmine Corp wasted little time establishing their dominance in the opening game, punishing nearly every mistake made by MVK Esports.

Although the Vietnamese squad attempted to find opportunities to fight back, most of their plays backfired, allowing KC to further extend their advantage. MVK struggled to match the European squad's aggression, leaving them with few opportunities to turn the game around.

KC eventually forced a decisive fight in the mid lane, where they wiped out MVK to seal the opening game in just 28 minutes, finishing with a commanding 13-2 kill score.

Game 2: Yike and Canna help Karmine Corp reach match point

The second game followed a similar pattern, with Karmine Corp once again taking control of the map early and leaving MVK Esports struggling to respond.

KC jungler Yike was particularly oppressive in the early game, repeatedly invading MVK's jungle and stealing camps to put opposing jungler Gury behind. Meanwhile, Kim “Canna" Chang-dong secured an early advantage in the top lane, further limiting MVK's options across the map.

With KC dominating both the jungle and the solo lanes, MVK found themselves unable to make significant plays or contest team fights. The European squad continued to snowball their advantage, eventually building a massive 15,000 gold lead.

MVK had no answer to KC's relentless pressure, and after another one-sided 27-minute encounter, the European squad destroyed the Vietnamese team's Nexus to claim a 2-0 series lead and reach match point.

Game 3: Karmine Corp withstand MVK Esports' aggression to complete 3-0 sweep

In the third game, MVK Esports came out with an unconventional, aggressive team composition, opening the match with chaotic, scrappy plays to keep themselves in contention. The Vietnamese squad traded kills whenever they could across all three lanes, refusing to let KC take control without a fight.

However, KC maintained a comfortable gold lead, with Caliste pulling ahead in the bottom lane. Despite this, MVK refused to back down, continuing to challenge the European squad with aggressive plays. KC remained composed, gradually adapting to MVK's relentless aggression and finding ways to punish their opponents.

KC began to pull further ahead after securing the game's first Baron Nashor, leaving MVK struggling to keep up as they lost more team fights and turrets. After a 28-minute encounter, KC destroyed MVK's Nexus with a commanding 25-12 kill score, completing the 3-0 sweep to claim the final Swiss Stage spot at Worlds 2026.

With their victory, KC advance to the Swiss Stage, where they will join 15 other teams in the battle for the Summoner's Cup. Meanwhile, MVK Esports bow out of the competition in 17th place, taking home US$50,000 in prize money.
