The qualifiers for the first American Enter the Storm tournament are well on their way. Murloc Geniuses is taking the opportunity to show the scene that they are one of the best teams in the region at the moment.
Yesterday the third qualifiers for the main Enter the Storm NA event were played. The first qualifier was won by Bob Ross Fan Club, the new team consisting of ex-Tempo Storm players and friends, while the second was won by Murloc Geniuses, one of NA's top teams for a while now.
As seen in the bracket below, Murloc Geniuses had one of the toughest string of opponents in the bracket. Kappa Wolves, Team Blaze and Stellar Lotus are all three teams that have already build up a lot of experience in the Heroes scene. But Murloc Geniuses have been one of the most stable teams in recent history, and showed great confidence throughout their run.
From the other side, a pretty unknown team managed pretty a significant upset after beating COGnitive in the semi-finals: Gale Force eSports.
In the finals, these teams met in a Bo3. GFE took control of the early game on Cursed Hollow, regardless of the early game aggression of MG's Kerrigan. A few good decisions even allowed GFE to take down a keep on MG's side at the 10 minute mark. But Murloc Geniuses' experience showed when they punished some of GFE's mistakes in the late game to quickly snowball a victory.
Game 2 was played on Dragonshire. Possibly tilted by the loss of game one, Gale Force eSports did not manage to take control of the early game as they did in game 1, quickly getting behind in experience. GFE continued to valiantly fight for a way to get back into the game, but MG rarely overextended enough for that to be possible. After a string of successive Dragon Knights, Murloc Geniuses destroyed their opponent's core with almost a three level lead, and won the third EtS NA qualifier.
After their two wins, MG is now in an even stronger lead in the team standings with 34 points (18 points higher than number 2 Bob Ross Fan Club). Murloc Geniuses are already confirmed to play in qualifier #4, and are also likely to play in #5 and #6 as well. These last three qualifiers are still open for registration, which can be done by following this link.
