Chinese Gold Series League back for Season 2

Netease and NeoTV are back with the Gold Series Heroes League, and they have invited Cloud9 to compete against the Chinese scene. Look inside for the details on Season 2.?

Netease and NeoTV are back with their major Heroes of the Storm series: the Gold Series Heroes League. This Chinese League, consisting of a Round Robin and Double Elimination phase each season, was one of the most defining battlefields for the Chinese Heroes scene this last year. It was this tournament that showcased the top teams of China and Korea. Being the first major Heroes tournament in China, the GHL attracted the most dedicated teams and players that up until then had been competing for smaller prize pools. The top 4 of Season 1 was 1. Snake, 2. Team DK, 3. Team YL, 4. EDward Gaming. All of these teams are still competing at the top of their regions, 5 months after Season 1 took off, albeit Snake back under their previous name Team AsD.

With a history like this, it is not odd to find the anticipation for Season 2 to be even higher. And the prize pool of the Chinese equivalent of around $77,000 USD also doesn't hurt. On top of this, a special MVP reward ($1,575 USD) will again be handed out to the best player of the tournament. The following teams will be playing in the next 2 months, with four from each group able to continue to the Playoffs:

Interesting include is the western team Cloud9, a team that is currently involved in the final stage of the Heroes World Championship and that might very well end up taking the title. Cloud9 was invited straight to the Group Stage, and did not have to play in the qualifiers unlike most of the other teams. What is missing in the collection of teams however, is a Korean presence. The Chinese organizers have decided to ban all Korean players from participating this time around, and as such teams like Team Snake have lost their sponsor and will not be able to compete in the second season of the tournament they won the first time around.

The Group Stage Round Robin will kick off on November 16, and the Grand Finals are predicted to take place mid-December. Matches will be streamed in Chinese, and can be found here. GosuGamers will of course be paying attention to this event, and will report on exciting developments throughout the tournament.
