Worlds 2026 Play-Ins Day 3 sees MVK Esports eliminate FURIA and secure Karmine Corp rematch

Only two teams remain in the battle for the final Swiss Stage spot at Worlds 2026.

The action continued on the third day of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship Play-In Stage, as the LCP's MVK Esports and CBLOL's FURIA Esports battled for survival in the lower bracket.

The two teams met on the opening day of the tournament, when MVK swept FURIA 3-0. However, after falling to Karmine Corp in the upper bracket final, the Vietnamese squad faced their Brazilian opponents again in another elimination series.

In the end, it was MVK Esports who came out on top, defeating FURIA 3-1 to keep their Worlds 2026 campaign alive and secure a rematch against Karmine Corp for the final Swiss Stage berth.

Worlds 2026 Play-In Stage Day 3 results

The third day of the Worlds 2026 Play-In Stage saw the following result:

  • MVK Esports 3-1 FURIA

Here's how the series went:

MVK Esports defeat FURIA to reach Worlds 2026 Play-In grand final

MVK Esports continued their dominance over FURIA, defeating the Brazilian squad 3-1 in the lower bracket final to move one step closer to qualifying for the Swiss Stage.

The Vietnamese squad wasted little time asserting their dominance in Game 1, taking control of the map and leaving FURIA struggling to find opportunities to fight back. MVK steadily built their advantage before closing out the opening game in just 31 minutes with a commanding 21-8 kill lead.

FURIA attempted to mount a comeback in Game 2, but MVK proved to be the stronger team in the skirmishes and team fights. The Vietnamese squad consistently outplayed their opponents, capitalising on every opportunity to extend their lead. With a 17-7 kill advantage, MVK secured another convincing victory in just 27 minutes to reach match point.

However, FURIA refused to go down without a fight. The Brazilian squad finally came alive in Game 3, with Andrey “Ayu” Saraiva stepping up to prevent MVK from running away with another early lead. FURIA managed to turn the tables on their opponents, securing a 21-8 kill lead of their own before taking down MVK's Nexus after 36 minutes to extend the series.

With their second chance to close out the series, MVK regained control in Game 4, focusing on maintaining vision around the map and securing advantages across the lanes. MVK's Jungler Lương Hải “Gury” Long played a crucial role on Wukong, zoning out FURIA's players and setting up favourable team fights for his squad.

FURIA struggled to find an answer to MVK's coordinated plays, allowing the Vietnamese squad to steadily pull ahead. After 28 minutes, MVK destroyed FURIA's Nexus with a 21-8 kill lead, securing the fourth game and the series 3-1.

With their victory, MVK Esports will face Karmine Corp once again in the Play-In Stage grand final on Sunday (18 October, PT), with the winner claiming the last remaining spot in the Swiss Stage. Having suffered a 0-3 sweep against the European squad in their previous encounter, MVK will be looking to turn things around in their rematch.

Meanwhile, FURIA bow out of Worlds 2026 in 18th place, taking home US$40,000 in prize money. The Brazilian squad join Cloud9 KIA among the eliminated teams, leaving Karmine Corp and MVK Esports as the final two contenders for the sole Swiss Stage berth.
