Twitter user @Blisterguy has compiled nine lists for our convenience.
In every meta, control decks are the archetype that sees the most variation. While aggressive and midrange decks often differ by a couple of cards, there’s way more room for deckbuilding maneuvers when creating a reactive list.
Even though Gadgetzan strongly indicated that it was going to be heaven for fast decks, control builds have been clawing up the competitive tier ladder. In the recent Gold Series Winter Championship – China’s premier Hearthstone circuit – RenoLock and RenoMage were two of the most played decks in the top eight. Even Warrior, a class which was taken over by the pirate package, saw a couple of control variations being brought.
The case of RenoMage is particularly noteworthy. The class was barely played in early Gadgetzan tournaments but started gaining popularity around the time of the SeatStory Cup VI before becoming dominant in the aforementioned Gold Series. The deck also has a lot of variations and on Twitter, Ray “@Blisterguy” Walkinshaw collected nine different builds and juxtaposed them for deckbuilders’ convenience. His tweet also features a list of core and tech cards.
Blisterguy’s collection is comprehensive, featuring builds from prominent players and streamers including Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy, Cong “StrifeCro” Shu, Thijs “ThijsNL” Molendijk and Brian Kibler. To get the full RenoMage feature, we suggest you also add the Chinese lists from Gold Series, notably using [card]coldlight oracle[/card] as draw engine and a tool to overdraw RenoLocks in the highlander match-up.
