Kwyang wins the inaugural Dew Challenge qualifier, registrations for Cup #2 open

Thomas “Kwyang” Yang and his Druid/Freeze Mage/Handlock line-up went almost undefeated throughout the tournament, pinning a 13-1 record at the finish line.

The Dew Challenge Hearthstone kicked off this Saturday with the first qualifier and after six rounds, a champion was crowned. Piloting an unorthodox line-up without the supremely popular Patron and featuring the almost extinct Freeze Mage – a deck known to struggle against modern day Warriors, Handlocks and Druids – Kwyang met very little opposition on his way to the RM 1,000.

Kwyang's decks:

Midrange Druid
Handlock
Freeze Mage

Humblecmy finished second behind kwyang, with Romeokhoo and Yaw1943 coming third and fourth, respectively. These four have also punched their tickets to the grand finals and will compete for the big prize pool of RM 17,500 in December. It’s an important win for the four amateurs who survived a bracket stacked with established heroes of the local scene like Fizdarth, Syvheonne, Kananai and Chaoshamtaro.

Qualifier #1 standings:

1. Malaysia Kwyang – RM 1,000 + grand finals seed
2. Malaysia Humblecmy – RM 500 + grand finals seed
3. Malaysia Romeokhoo – RM 250 + grand finals seed
4. Malaysia Yaw1943 – grand finals seed

The second qualifier for Dew Challenge Hearthstone is coming this Saturday, October 17th, at 13:00 MYT. Registrations are now open and all Malaysian residents except the four Qualifier #1 winners are welcome to sign up and compete for cash and fame!
