Janne "Savjz" Mikkonen is the eighth and final player to make it to the ESL Legendary Series grand finals next month after barely defeating Warrior expert Andrew "Kitkatz" Deschanel in a five game thriller.
Two months after ESL started their new Hearthstone tournament series, they are now ready to go head on into one of the first LAN events of the year. On February 14-15, eight players will be flying to Burbank, California, enticed by the $20,000 prize pool that ESL has put down.
Unlike most Hearthstone events in 2014, the ESL Legendary Series Grand finals will have a total of zero direct invites. All of the eight participants had to win their spot by showing their worth in the so called "Match days", which essentially functioned as 8-man qualifier tournaments. The winners of week 5-8 were given half of the grand final seeds while the remaining four went to the four players on top of the ESL points ladder.
This system of qualification has thus led to a mix of up-and-comers and established names alike. Next to proven and known players like Savjz, Darkwonyx and Chakki we have aspiring ones like MagicAmy, Pinpingho, SilentStorm, Weifu, Max and Zalae.

Naturally, the remaining four weeks of ESL competition won't be all for nothing as those who excel in them will be able to acquire points and carry them over to the new season, which is planned for later this year.
