Gaara beats RDU at WCA 2014 by 4-2'ing with Hunter. He'll be cashing approximately $28,000.

Gaara snagged $28k as he beat RDU 4-2 at the WCA 2014. The match started with both of them using Druid, which RDU won easily on the first two games. Gaara switched to Paladin and then Hunter, where the latter won him the game. Both players banned Warlock.

Gaara missed lethal twice and got into a 1-off lethal situation a few more times before topdecking RDU with a lucky draw (an [card]Eaglehorn Bow[/card]). That win got him one of the biggest prize money he has received from Hearthstone tournaments yet.

Interestingly, Gaara had to pay for his plane ticket to China because he missed his flight by five minutes. When interviewed, he said that he could have won the first two Druid matches with RDU, had he played it differently. Gaara also added that he lost six times in the whole tournament and all to Druid.

RDU has a different view, on the other hand. “I could have won… but Hunter happened,” RDU remarked. “The people who missed lethal are Top 3 right now.” He is going home with $2000.
