Creative Assembly has released a 17-minute Q&A session to answer fan questions about the long-awaited Alien: Isolation 2, the sequel to the iconic 2014 survival horror game.
After breaking down gameplay details, including the Photo Mode and microphone toggle features, CA confirmed a physical edition will be available for Alien: Isolation 2. With a slated 2027 release window, the game is expected to arrive before Sony phases out physical disc production by January 2028.
“Staying true to the analogue nature of Alien is one of our core pillars. Alien: Isolation 2 will have a physical edition,” reads a statement towards the end of the video.

Alien: Isolation 2 focuses on a single, intelligent Xenomorph
Creative Assembly has spilled some gameplay details of the upcoming Alien: Isolation 2.
The game will focus on one truly fearsome Xenomorph, staying true to the 1979 film Alien. In this game of cat and mouse, players will have to outmanoeuvre and evade a far more intelligent Xenomorph that can adapt and learn new ways to hunt them. This means repeatedly relying on the same distractions and tricks might no longer work.
The sequel will also feature more outdoor environments, leaving players exposed and forcing them to find cover in the open. Harsh weather conditions, including strong winds and storms, will limit players' senses while also allowing the Alien to use the elements to its advantage.
Will Alien: Isolation 2 have Photo Mode?
Yes, Photo Mode has been confirmed for Alien: Isolation 2. The developers emphasised that it will offer features expected of a real camera, including precise adjustments for lighting, exposure, saturation and more.
Players will also have access to filters and the ability to place lights in the game world, allowing them to capture more detail in its dark environments. Additional customisation options will include logos, patches, stickers, frames and text.
Can you use a microphone in Alien: Isolation 2?
A microphone toggle feature will be available across all platforms. When enabled, the game will pick up sounds from players' microphones, meaning a scream or even a dog barking outside could alert the Alien to their presence.
More details are being kept under wraps, with the developers promising to reveal further information soon.
Alien: Isolation 2 was first announced to be in development in October 2024, during the original game's tenth anniversary. The sequel was officially showcased in June 2026, with SEGA set to publish the game sometime in 2027.
