Who is in the Samurai Outriders team in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls?

MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls has officially rounded its playable roster. Previously-revealed fighter Ghost Rider (Giancarlo Sabogal) is joining new fighters Loki (Jason Spisak), Deadpool (Nolan North), and Blade (Imari Williams) in a new team: Samurai Outriders. This is a rather colourful team made up of characters who rarely cross paths with one another, and their lack of cohesion will play into the game’s story-focused Episode Mode.
Here’s a rundown of the newly-revealed fighters:
- Blade: Real name Eric Brooks, this human-vampire hybrid is in fact a vampire hunter who fights with the demon-slaying sword Muramasa. He trained in Japan, and uses an aggressive combat style while wielding a mix of glaives and machine guns.
- Loki: Thor’s brother Loki uses trickery in combat, feinting and countering attacks with illusions. He can also fire off ice and magic projectiles.
- Deadpool: Wade Wilson breaks the fourth wall constantly in battle, and has a healing factor to allow him a more reckless style of combat. He uses guns, grenades, and swords in combat.
Interestingly, Deadpool’s moveset seems to include references to a colourful variety of other fighting games. He uses Johnny Cage’s Nut Punch from Mortal Kombat, and even does Jack-O’s infamous stretching pose from Guilty Gear. He can also summon the Deadpool Corps, including Lady Deadpool, for his Ultimate Skill.
The game also revealed a brand-new stage: Asgard. The Nordic Realm of the Gods will be represented with its hallmark locations, like the Bifrost Bridge, Observatory, World Tree Yggdrasil, Treasure Vault, and Throne Room. All of these areas will be included in Asgard as a battle stage.
