The upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved remake is upon us.
Xbox Game Studios has officially revealed a cinematic story trailer for Halo: Campaign Evolved, the upcoming remake of 2001’s seminal first-person shooter Halo: Combat Evolved. The trailer’s footage was captured on a PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox has also revealed a host of game editions and pre-order bonuses for the game’s upcoming release.

Why is Halo: Campaign Evolved’s new trailer captured on PS5 Pro?
After recent news of Gears of War: E-Day getting an Xbox-exclusive console release, fans of Halo can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Halo: Campaign Evolved is not getting similar treatment. The upcoming remake is still set to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and even PlayStation 5–and we have footage from the latter console to prove it.
The game’s latest story trailer shows off Master Chief’s iconic debut campaign, now beautifully remade in Unreal Engine 5. The iconic Halo theme plays over the trailer as well, signalling a return to the franchise’s roots, with returning characters like Cortana and Sergeant Johnson also sporting new designs.
Interestingly, all footage from this trailer was captured on a PlayStation 5 Pro, rather than an Xbox Series X|S. Plenty more trailers released over Summer Game Fest were also cut together using PlayStation 5 Pro footage, but this one is notable, considering that Halo is widely considered to be Xbox’s flagship franchise.
With the release of Halo: Campaign Evolved, that franchise will finally make it over to PlayStation.
Halo: Campaign Evolved pre-order bonuses and game editions
Halo: Campaign Evolved is now available for pre-orders, with pre-order buyers also receiving access to the Foundry Armory Pack. This cosmetic pack includes the classic 2001 Mark V armor skin, the 2001 Assault Rifle skin, Gilded Onyx armor style, and Gilded Onyx Assault Rifle style.
On top of the US$50 standard edition, the game has a couple more editions available for fans to pick up. Here’s a breakdown of the other game editions’ extra goodies:
