What is Halo: Campaign Evolved about?

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a remake of the original 2001 title, Halo: Combat Evolved, widely regarded as one of the most influential games in video game history. The original Halo pioneered numerous gameplay mechanics that later became industry standards, including its control scheme, vehicle combat, and two-weapon system.

Now, Halo Studios and Xbox are bringing that iconic experience to modern audiences with Halo: Campaign Evolved, rebuilding the original story in Unreal Engine 5 with remastered 4K visuals, modernised gameplay, and brand-new content.

In Campaign Evolved, players will be able to wield nine additional weapons drawn from across the Halo franchise, including the Energy Sword, Battle Rifle, and Needle Rifle.

The developers have also teased several firsts for the original campaign experience, including the ability to hijack vehicles and pilot the Covenant Wraith tank.

The newly released Missions Trailer dived deeper into the game's new narrative. While players will be able to revisit familiar missions from the original campaign, they will also experience the all-new Operation: METEORITE, featuring new locations, enemy variants, weapons, and additional story content.

"In today's trailer, you'll get a glimpse at what that means in action: fighting alongside UNSC forces, pushing through Covenant-controlled spaces, facing new threats like the Brute Berserker, and even bringing the fight into space," Xbox further elaborated.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is now available for pre-order, with the Standard Edition retailing for US$49.99. The game will also be available on day one through Xbox’s Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
