LEGO Batman has more in common with Arkham Batman than you might think.
Game developer TT Games’ latest LEGO game is an ambitious love letter to the Batman franchise: LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Ever since its 2025 reveal, fans have pointed out similarities between the game and Rocksteady Studios’ Batman: Arkham franchises–primarily due to the former seemingly borrowing Arkham’s combat gameplay.
As it turns out, these similarities might not be a coincidence. According to a report from VGC, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight’s credits list over 20 developers from Rocksteady Studios. Even Warner Bros. Games Montreal, which developed Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights, is credited in the game’s development, making this something of a family affair.

Did Rocksteady help to make LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight?
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is now days away from its official release date of 22 May, 2026. However, owners of the game’s Deluxe Edition can play the game in early access starting from today (19 May), which has led to a deluge of spoilers and additional details from the title making its way online.
Gaming outlet VGC, which reportedly reviewed the game prior to its release, confirmed this week that a surprising name was found in its end credits: Rocksteady Studios. 24 developers, including a producer, designer, and several senior programmers and artists from the Batman: Arkham franchise creator are credited in the development of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
Additionally, developers from Warner Bros. Games Montreal, which developed the Batman: Arkham Origins prequel and standalone game Gotham Knights, are also listed in the game’s credits. The game reportedly holds Easter eggs and references to a variety of Batman media, including game adaptations, so having some of the creators of these said games be actually involved in its development is a nice touch.
Neither Rocksteady nor Warner Bros. Games Montreal have revealed their next projects just yet, following both studios’ largely poorly-received prior releases: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Gotham Knights, respectively.
A 2025 report claimed that Rocksteady was preparing to return to making a Batman game, while Warner Bros. Games Montreal was looking to pitch a Game of Thrones game. However, this report remains unconfirmed by either studio, or publisher Warner Bros. Games, as of now.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight launches on 22 May, 2026.
