Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls prematurely reveals launch roster of 20 playable characters

The upcoming Marvel fighting game will feature 20 launch characters.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has confirmed the size of its launch roster, albeit seemingly by accident. The game’s Steam store page was briefly updated with all-new details on its launch roster and story content, before the new information was abruptly removed moments later. This suggests that the new details were prematurely announced, though fans were quick to share the news online all the same.

The fighting game will feature a roster of 20 playable characters at launch, of which only eight have been officially revealed.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will launch with 20 playable characters

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has ostensibly lined up its launch roster, judging by the game’s recent Steam store page changes. The store page was briefly updated with new information on the game’s impending release earlier today (10 February), revealing that it will launch with 20 playable characters. Of those 20 characters, eight have already been revealed:

  • Captain America (Steve Rogers)
  • Doctor Doom
  • Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes)
  • Iron Man
  • Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan)
  • Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
  • Star-Lord
  • Storm

A select few players even had the chance to play a few of these characters in previously-released betas for the game, though the rest of the roster’s 12 remaining fighters still remain a mystery. Some players online have criticised the size of this launch roster, noting that it seems a little thin for a 4v4 fighting game.

The game’s Steam store page also revealed that players will be able to join up to 64-player online lobbies, including standard VS modes. Each of the game’s teams will also be expanded upon via a singleplayer Episode Mode, where players can learn more about the team dynamics between these heroes and villains, and their shared lore.

The Steam store page also made note of these PC features:

  • Ultra Settings–Experience the action of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls at high performance rates of 60fps (locked in battle) and super crisp 4K visuals. (4K requires compatible 4K TV or display.)
  • DualSense Controller Support–MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls features full use of the DualSense controller on PC. For DualSense controller, wired connection required to experience the full range of in-game controller features.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will launch on PlayStation 5 and PC sometime in 2026. It’s likely that we’ll learn more about the game in PlayStation’s State of Play presentation held towards the end of the week, so stay tuned for our future coverage of the event!
