Love and Deepspace gets a surprising Blade Runner 2049 collab, but fans want Valko instead

And Valko is still nowhere to be seen.

Papergames has unveiled a surprising new collaboration coming to its widely-popular–and often controversial–otome game Love and Deepspace. The game is crossing over with Blade Runner 2049, allowing players to recreate an iconic scene from the movie with their Love Interests. The collaboration is also coming with a new Portrait Background, Duo Photo Pose, and Sticker.

You can watch the collab reveal below:

What is in the Love and Deepspace x Blade Runner 2049 collab?

Love and Deepspace is officially getting a Blade Runner 2049 crossover, and it’s available starting today (19 October, 2026). The crossover trailer hints at the two games’ aesthetics merging–including the floating holograms of Blade Runner’s futuristic take of Los Angeles and key scenes players share with the game’s Love Interests.

The crossover event “Rendered Real” runs from 05:00 on Oct. 19 to 04:59 on Nov. 5 (server time). During the event, players can check in to claim free Blade Runner-themed rewards, including Duo Photo Pose [At Your Touch], Portrait Background [Manifest], and Sticker [2049].

While some players have voiced excitement over the impending crossover, much of the social media reactions to this trailer are instead pointed towards Valko, Love and Deepspace’s infamously-cancelled sixth Love Interest. Papergames has yet to address the surge of fans pushing for Valko’s return post his cancellation, but that hasn’t stopped fans from pushing for his return anyway.

Some comments on a Reddit discussion centred around the Love and Deepspace x Blade Runner 2049 collaboration pointed out that Valko, who was meant to be an in-game tech CEO, would have fit right in with this event. One user simply said “CYBERPPUNK TECH THEME WITHOUT OUR WOLF CEO?”

Another user pointed out that Valko’s first Myth would have also thematically tied into the crossover directly: “Yeah, no thanks. The collab could've been exciting, but guess whose first myth was cyberpunk themed? Valko would've been perfect for this.”

Another user criticised the collaboration for its irony, pointing out that the scene this trailer is referencing involves Joi, an in-game hologram who acts as a romantic companion. After the movie’s protagonist K loses access to Joi (we're trying not to spoil the movie here), he faces a massive holographic advertisement for Joi in the city, and comes to terms with the fact that the love they shared was artificial.

User enbyshaymin wrote: “The scene is not a romantic one. It is not one of hope, or love, or connection... It is one of hopelessness, of loneliness, of pure dystopia. That scene is meant to show how she was not real and how she was a simple product, made to please consumers and get them to buy, buy and buy.”

Some players are excited for the collab nonetheless, with one Reddit user saying: “Raf looks so ethereal here, I love it. The visuals for this collab are so good, I really hope it leads to more content in this style in the future (a cyberpunk style multi would be so cool).”
