Marvel Rivals reveals details for 1v6 MCU Avengers game mode, launching today

Avengers, assemble!

Marvel Rivals has revealed its new Avengers (2012)-inspired PvP mode, a 1v6 format where one player controls Loki against a full team of Avengers. The announcement was shared on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) and other social media accounts on Wednesday (29 April):

The trailer calls back to iconic scenes from the first Avengers movie, where Loki acted as its primary antagonist. Via the official announcement's caption, Loki challenges Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in a confrontation that will “reshape the Path to Doomsday.” The post states that the Avengers must “stand united against this new threat in [the] upcoming Asymmetric PvP Mode.”

Dropping as part of the Path to Doomsday event in Season 7.5, the mode shakes things up with the game’s first asymmetric PvP format. It’s not your usual match setup either, this one is built around recreating that classic Avengers vs Loki clash, but in a way that actually works in-game.

What is the Marvel Rivals x Avengers PvP mode?

This new mode follows a 1v6 format. One player becomes Loki, while six others queue in as the original Avengers lineup. You’re limited to Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow on the hero side, so don’t expect the full roster here. It’s clearly focused on the OG Marvel Cinematic Universe lineup.

To make the fight fair, Loki gets a huge boost. He has up to 3,500 HP, which lets him survive long enough to actually take on six players at once. From the trailer, it looks like the Avengers need to stay grouped and play properly as a team, while Loki’s job is to create pressure and pick his moments.

When does the Avengers mode release in Marvel Rivals?

The Avengers mode goes live on Thursday (30 April) as part of Season 7.5’s Path to Doomsday event, continuing the rollout of limited-time content tied to the upcoming Avengers Doomsday build-up. Season 7.5 already kicked off with the Blood Hunt PvE mode, and this new update switches things back to PvP with a more experimental twist.

Marvel Rivals has been leaning heavily into rotating limited-time modes, and this one fits that pattern while standing out thanks to its 1v6 Avengers vs Loki setup. It’s the kind of mode that feels built for short, high-energy sessions, and is likely something players will keep returning to while its live.

Is the Avengers mode a limited-time event?

Yes, it’s launching as a limited-time mode. There’s no confirmed end date yet, but it likely won’t stick around forever, given how these events have been handled so far.

If you want to try it, you’ll probably need to jump in while it’s active, whether that’s teaming up as the Avengers, or seeing how long you can last as Loki against six players.
