Sanrio Games’ first title, Sanrio Party Land, launches this fall, with nine more games planned over the next three years.
After decades of establishing itself as an iconic character brand and partnering with various games to feature its characters in the modern era, Sanrio has finally entered the gaming industry directly, with “Sanrio Games” set to publish first-party titles, including its debut game Sanrio Party Land.
“To date, many games featuring Sanrio characters have been released globally through licensing partnerships. While Sanrio will continue to expand these initiatives, it is also launching a self-published game brand as a new way to connect its IP directly with customers around the world, further broadening and enriching its entertainment experiences,” Sanrio Games announced on its official website.
Sanrio Games will release its own titles featuring iconic characters such as Hello Kitty, with the first game announced as “Sanrio Party Land”. The game will launch globally this fall on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, releasing simultaneously with the debut of Sanrio Games.
There are not many details about Sanrio Party Land so far, but an early description calls it a world where “users can create original avatars, and enjoy mini-games and board games together with the characters in this party game.” Sanrio Games' newly-launched social media accounts have also revealed early looks at the game's visuals.
As part of the launch of its gaming division, Sanrio has also teased an ambitious roadmap, unveiling 10 Sanrio game titles planned over the next three years, including Sanrio Party Land.

What appearances has Sanrio made in video games?
Prior to this historic entry, Sanrio’s presence in gaming has already been significant, which makes it surprising that the Japanese character brand is only now officially branching into self-published gaming later this year.
There have been several major Sanrio-inspired games through licensing deals, such as 2025's Hello Kitty Island Adventure, an open-world life simulation game. There have also been many popular collaborations with titles such as Animal Crossing, Fall Guys, Dead by Daylight, Honor of Kings, and the recent Overwatch skins crossover.
With Sanrio Games finally becoming a reality, fans can expect to see more of its beloved characters in the gaming world, now through first-party titles.
What is Sanrio about?
