PEGI rating leaks unnanounced Life is Strange Reunion game starring Max and Chloe

Max and Chloe are reuniting at last, it seems.

Square Enix is developing a new Life is Strange game, according to a seemingly premature post from European video game rating system PEGI. The post, which has now been taken down, detailed information for an unreleased game called Life is Strange: Reunion, a sequel that stars original series protagonists Max and Chloe.

Life is Strange: Reunion seemingly leaked by PEGI rating

PEGI, the video game rating system that provides age ratings and content warnings for video games, is seemingly to blame for leaking the existence of an all-new Life is Strange video game. This week, online users spotted the sudden appearance of a rating on PEGI’s website for a non-existent video game called Life is Strange: Reunion.

The rating came with a description for the game, courtesy of Insider Gaming:

"Chloe Price was Max Caulfield’s partner in time… Losing her is Max’s greatest regret. Now Chloe has come to Caledon University. Haunted by nightmares and impossible memories, Chloe needs Max’s help. But Max is already in crisis: in three days, a deadly inferno will destroy the campus."

Judging by the above description, it sounds like the game is reuniting the original protagonists of Life is Strange (2015), Max Caulfield and Chloe Price. Max earlier reappeared in the series’ latest installment, Life is Strange: Double Exposure (2024). Depending on whether players chose to either sacrifice Arcadia Bay or save Chloe, Max will either appear in the game grieving the loss of Chloe, or having just broken up with her over their shared trauma.

Life is Strange: Reunion appears to be firmly set in a timeline where Chloe lives, as the two are described to reunite while saving Caledon University from impending disaster. However, it’s unclear if the game will act as a follow-up to Life is Strange: Double Exposure. The PEGI rating only offers mild spoilers of the game’s contents, including a sequence that has players potentially get drugged at a party if they choose to accept some spiked alcohol.

According to PEGI, Life is Strange: Reunion will also have depictions of “strong, realistic violence” along with flashbacks to the first game and plenty of swear words. The game also has potentially “scary” images like “dead bodies with no blood or injury detail and human skeletons.”

The rating also includes mentions of suicide and sexual innuendo, such as the player being told at a party that someone didn’t show up because their “girlfriend thought this was an orgy.” Much like past Life is Strange games, cosmetics for character outfits and a Digital Deluxe edition upgrade will be available for purchase.

Interestingly, the ratings page also mentions a release date for PlayStation 5: 27 March, 2025, which might be a typo pointing towards a March 2026 release date. Granted, this release date could also just be a placeholder, and until the game is revealed, none of this information is official.

Square Enix has not yet announced the existence of Life is Strange: Reunion.
