Teostra revealed as returning Elder Dragon in Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance

Teostra will be available to hunt in the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance demos at Tokyo Game Show 2026.

Capcom has revealed Teostra as another returning Elder Dragon in Monster Hunter Wilds' upcoming expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. Teostra joins Kushala Daora and Lao Shan Lung among the Elder Dragons first introduced in the series' first generation that will be making their return in Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance.

Teostra's inclusion in Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance was announced during the Capcom Spotlight Tokyo Games Show (TGS) 2026 on Wednesday (16 September), which also revealed quality-of-life changes that are being added to the game alongside the expansion.

Teostra will be among the monsters available to hunt in the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance live demos at TGS 2026, marked as the target for the demo hunt geared towards experienced players due to his prowess as an Elder Dragon. The other monsters available to hunt in the demos are Chatacabra and Araketa, a new Flying Wyvern being introduced in the expansion.

Capcom reveal quality-of-life changes coming with Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance

Alongside the reveal of Teostra, Capcom also announced quality-of-life changes that are set to be introduced alongside the release of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. By far the biggest of these changes is the removal of Character Edit Vouchers. Once the expansion launches, players will be able to edit the appearance of their hunter and Palico free of charge and as many times as they want.

Players who previously paid for Character Edit Vouchers will receive a Special Thank-You Pendant Set, which can be claimed in-game starting from 3 December. On that same day, Character Edit Vouchers will no longer be available for purchase and 10 Character Edit Vouchers and 10 Palico Edit Vouchers will instead be distributed to players for them to use until the release of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance.

Other quality-of-life changes include faster weapon swapping even when not mounted on the Seikret, the ability to change equipment through the item box outside of the tent in home bases and pop-up camps, bulk changes using new Hunter Loadouts, and detailed display of monster hide toughness in the Hunter's Notes.

These changes will also be available to the base game even if players did not purchase the expansion.

What is Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance?

Ascendance will be the major expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds, adding a ton of new content to the base game in the same vein as Iceborne and Sunbreak for Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise, respectively.

One of the biggest additions coming with Ascendance is Master Rank, which introduces a higher tier of difficulty for monster hunts that lets players hunt stronger monsters from the base game and the expansion to craft new weapons, armour, and more. Existing monsters from Monster Hunter Wilds' base game will not be the only ones players can hunt in the expansion, as Ascendance is also set to add both new monsters and returning ones from previous games.

To help players face the more challenging hunts in Ascendance, the expansion also adds the new ‘Boost Bracer’ mechanic. Hunters can build up energy for the Boost Bracer through aggressive attacks, then activate Boost for new combos, enhanced attacks, and other weapon-specific actions.

As befitting the expansion's ‘Ascendance’ name, a new locale in the Eastlands is also being added. The series of floating ruins seen in the expansion's trailers being called the Skybound Eyrie. The ruins in the Skybound Eyrie seem to be held aloft by the mysterious technology used by Wyveria, the ancient civilisation that once reigned over the Forbidden Lands.

When is Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance coming out?

Capcom did not reveal the official release date for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, only that the expansion is set to come out sometime in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
