The world’s largest and longest-running fighting game festival will be hosted in Southeast Asia for the first time in January 2027.
The Evolution Championship Series (Evo), the world’s largest and longest-running fighting game festival, is set to make its Southeast Asian debut in Singapore in January 2027.
The inaugural Evo Singapore will be hosted at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre from 15 to 27 January 2027. The event will feature some of the biggest fighting game tournaments in the scene, including Street Fighter 6, TEKKEN 8, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, Guilty Gear -Strive- and Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. A minimum prize pool of US$125,000 will be guaranteed across the five aforementioned titles.
Evo Singapore will also host the TEKKEN World Tour 2026 Global Finals, where the world’s leading TEKKEN 8 players will compete for their cut of a US$300,000 prize pool. Evo Singapore's TEKKEN 8 event will also serve as the Last Chance Qualifier for the Global Finals.
Aside from the main competition, Evo Singapore will feature an Evo Museum, flash tournaments, player and developer meet-and-greets, an arcade zone, cosplay, community-run tournaments, and other activations.
“Singapore has a vibrant history with fighting games; including producing Evo champion Xian, former world tour qualifier events like Southeast Asia Major, and hosting offices for multiple fighting game publishers. We’re excited for Evo and the TEKKEN World Tour 2026 Global Finals to be part of the Lion City’s ongoing legacy,” Evo general manager Rick Thiher said in a press release.

What is Evo?
Evo is the world’s largest and longest-running fighting game festival, with the event hosting tournaments for various fighting game titles that are open-invite and follow double-elimination formats. The first-ever Evo was hosted in 1996 as a Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Street Fighter Alpha 2 tournament in California.
The first three iterations of the event were notably called ‘The Battle of the Bay' and were held in California, before the event changed its name to Evo in 2002. From 2002 onwards, Evo was hosted in various locations in California, Nevada, and Connecticut. Evo would also expand outside of the United States and host spin-off events in Japan starting in 2017 and France starting in 2025. 2027's Evo Singapore will mark the event's first foray into Southeast Asia.
