The World Martial Arts Tournament just got a lot more pixelated.
Minecraft just got a power boost worthy of a Super Saiyan. The Dragon Ball Z DLC, developed by Cyclone, is now live on the Minecraft Marketplace, turning Mojang’s sandbox into a full-blown fighting experience inspired by the legendary anime. The announcement was made on the official Minecraft website, and YouTube page.
Long before most players were throwing punches in battle royales or arena brawlers, Dragon Ball Z was setting the tone for over-the-top showdowns through its World Martial Arts Tournament arc; think massive energy blasts, villains who won’t stay down, and fights that reshaped the planet. Now, all of that has been rebuilt inside Minecraft, cube by cube.
The DLC lets players team up or face off in solo, co-op, or 5v5 free-for-all matches, across PC, console, and mobile platforms. It’s part fighting game and part nostalgia trip, and surprisingly faithful to the source material, even when everyone’s made of blocks.
11 Dragon Ball Z characters join the fray
Before diving into battle, players select from a roster stacked with fan favourites: Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Frieza, Trunks, Krillin, Android 17, Android 18, Cell, and Majin Buu all make an appearance, with several characters available in their Super Saiyan forms.
Each fighter comes with their own set of signature moves, from Goku’s Kamehameha and Vegeta’s Galick Gun to the Final Flash, which can flatten everything in sight. Beating opponents unlocks them for future matches, slowly filling out the lineup as players climb through each stage.
Iconic Dragon Ball Z locations are playable stages
The DLC rebuilds iconic Dragon Ball Z locations as playable stages, including the Cell Games Arena and Planet Namek. Each one captures the look and scale of the original settings, from the bright tiles of the Tenkaichi Budokai courtyard to alien battlefields glowing under pink skies. Between fights, players can regroup inside Capsule Corporation, a quiet hub area to explore before heading back into another chaotic round of energy beams and explosions.
Freebie: Become Saiyan
Two themed bonuses come alongside the DLC. The Saiyan Skin Pack lets players bring characters like Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Bulma, and Frieza into any Minecraft world.
The Scouter Character Creator accessory, modelled after the Frieza Force’s classic headgear, adds a finishing touch. It’s available for free until 4 December 2025, 10am PT, before becoming a paid item on the Marketplace.
The Dragon Ball Z DLC is out now on the Minecraft Marketplace, requiring Minecraft: Bedrock Edition to play. Multiplayer modes, including co-op, PvP, and tournaments, are supported, with console players needing their usual online subscriptions to access these modes.
