Overwatch 2 adds Persona 5 crossover, new hero Wuyang, and Stadium Quick Play in Season 18

You’ll never see Overwatch 2’s next crossover coming.

Blizzard Entertainment has revealed Overwatch 2 Season 18: Stadium Quick Play. As the title implies, this season will add a Quick Play mode for Stadium, one of the game’s newest and most complex game modes. The new season will also add a new water-based hero named Wuyang, and in a surprising twist, a crossover with Sega and Atlus’ beloved RPG Persona 5.

Watch the Season 18 trailer below (the Persona 5 tease is at the very end):

Overwatch 2 shows off Season 18 content, including Persona 5 crossover

Overwatch 2’s latest Season 18 trailer confirms a crossover with Persona 5 is coming, likely consisting of a bevy of Legendary cosmetics themed after the latter game’s cast. We could see Junkrat suiting up as Ryuji, Wuyang as Joker, D.Va as Futaba, and so on–though none of these combinations have been confirmed just yet.

This will only be Overwatch 2’s latest collaboration. The first-person hero shooter has also collaborated with franchises like G.I. Joe, Street Fighter, Gundam Wing, and My Hero Academia for cosmetic bundles. In recent times, all of the crossover skins have become only available for purchase in the in-game shop–whereas in the past, players would be able to pick up at least one of them for free through gameplay.

Overwatch 2 Season 18 brings Stadium changes

Overwatch 2’s Stadium mode is also getting some changes. Old-but-new playable heroes are coming to the mode, including Winston, Brigitte, Pharah, and franchise mascot Tracer herself this season. For those who prefer a less-competitive version of Stadium, Quick Play Queue is also coming.

In Quick Play Queue, players will experience a lighter-weight version of Stadium with shorter matches, a rapid-fire economy and more changes to make the mode a little less intense to play. A new Payload Race mode is also coming, where players have to push parallel payloads through checkpoints all the way to the finish line.

Overwatch 2 Season 18 adds support hero Wuyang

Overwatch 2 Season 18 is also bringing a brand-new playable character to the game. Wuyang, a Support hero with a water-based kit, is coming this season. He uses his Xuanwu staff to control water orbs that can be detonated to deliver burst damage. Guardian Wave delivers knockback effects while boosting ally healing, and Restorative Stream adapts its healing over time to match the flow of the battle.

Wuyang can also surf water currents using Rushing Torrent to reposition quickly. His Ultimate ability, Tidal Blast, can grant targeted allies overhealth. Interestingly, his hero trailer also hints that his sister, who sports fire-based abilities, is set to join the playable roster sometime in the future.

Even more updates in Overwatch 2 Season 18

Season 18 adds over 50 new Hero perks for players to toy around with, and a full rank reset that gives everyone new placement matches to embark on. Two Mythic cosmetics are also coming–an Ultraviolet Sentinel skin for Sojourn, and a Blazing Sunsetter weapon skin for Cassidy.

Summer Games is also returning this season with a new third-person mode from 2 September to 15 September, and hero skill ratings are coming to measure players’ performance in Competitive modes. Hero Progression 2.0 is also coming, revamping the levelling system to allow heroes to level up individually.
